Ulyana Sergeenko Haute Couture S/S 2025 Dubai

Aaahhhhhh the fashion mafia of 2010-2014 street style making a return?

Still the same thing she’s been (was…) doing and doing it Dubai makes sense for her “clientele”. Surprised with Vodianova being a part of it, mainly because I thought she would have been a bit beyond this crew by now but seems to not be. It exists for a reason and we know “who” for, still doesn’t make it that interesting.

Forgot about this one. What happened to showing in Paris?

The war in Ukraine happened, and with the riches of her husband probably tied with the cleptocratic practices commonly found among the fabulously rich Russians, there is no chance she can distance herself from the policies of Putin.

I think the Middle East is a good market for designers dedicated to their client base, since some "tacky" designers (as members here called them) actually have their businesses thrive there. The funny thing about those big brands is that they are more polarized toward the Asian market (especially East Asia), making it very reasonable for those designers to fill the void there. Who wants to be treated inferior when you have someone specifically cater your needa.

If Bernie can scam poor people again with his current fighting oligarchy tour, I don't see Irina, Vodianova or even Naomi would be cancelled by the high fashion society is deeply supported by global oligarchs.

^LMAO, Fashion has always been like this, everyone trying so hard to look like the most “progressive” person in the room. But honestly, it’s kinda ridiculous when you see how “progressiveness” somehow goes hand in hand with capitalism. At the end of the day, these fashion houses built on capitalist ideals are still obsessed with cracking into the Chinese market, a communist country. And like, even a fool can see that communism, at its core, is far more progressive and meaningful than the hollow ideology of capitalism. The irony is wild.

Some of these brands were literally involved in wartime agendas. Hugo Boss made Nazi uniforms, and Chanel? She cozied up with a Nazi officer during WWII and still gets glorified as some feminist icon. Kinda fake, no?

Come on, that country is capitalist at its core just like the U.S. but in guise of communism. Otherwise, there will be no luxury goods or luxury goods for everyone. If you look at the wealth inequality there where its political and business elites shop high fashion like their western capitalist, you will begin to question the meaning of communism.

I get that Vodianova and Porodina are both Russian, but really? Working with a Moscow-based brand in 2025...

whilst I find the creative output of sergeenko as deeply uninspiring as anyone, it seems extremely hypocritical to castigate or ostracise her or those who choose to work with her solely due to their nationality - nobody chooses their place of birth - do people seriously think that Ulyana Sergeenko, of all people, should rail pointlessly against the Putin regime, knowing that her words will have zero impact and that she and her extended family will be in danger of imprisonment, property confiscation etc.

do those who support "cancelling" her, also condemn American designers and wish to cancel NY FW bc *checks notes* in the past month the US have provided weapons to Israel, occupied part of Syria and bombed civilians in Yemen...
