Undercover F/W 06.07 Paris

to each his own, really.

I am on the contrary "sick and tired" of fashion designers that are doing shows and clothing just for the sake of mere media attention and gimmick, rather than trying to design interesting and real clothes that make sense... I am not questioning Jun's design capabilities but I find it rather uninspired and DONE to cover faces in cloth, I don't see the wit in it, really.

Call me ignorant, I call it pragmatic... :innocent:

indeed. one wears the clothes, not the show.

Thats all you see. Faces covered in cloth. I see how they are covered in cloth. I see the design and I find meaning. I see the complication. I can relate. I like that you cant.

saw some of the new collection today... have my eye on a short jacket with a sheep fur collar and furry lining... it has a cool pocket detail where a zipper conceals a inner pocket and creates two flaps on the side.. hard to descibe... still trying to decide becasue the price its 8000HKD (approx US1000) but there is only one jacket left in my size.. they only got a total of 4 of the jackets... and only 2 in my size

anyways anyone know where to get pictures of this FW menswear collection? its always so hard to find undercover menswear pictures...

as for the quality issue... i think that overall the quality is really good considering the amount of detail in most of the pieces, i just find that sometimes he uses materials that dont age very well which makes it look really crappy after some wear... but at the same time i think those materials are the ones that make undercover unique (like the felt-like material, which creates a stiff-effect; and the jersey material, which creates a flowy effect)... so in some cases he is more interested in effect rather than durability..

so in conclusion i think the craftmanship, stiching, details are really good.. just sometimes choice of material is poor...

I'm not feeling this. Although its creative and edgy...it doesn't do anything for me.

what I see is that from a very back-to-reality point of view, most of these clothes would look much better without the additional skarf/wrap pieces attached. there's no question that he does make beautiful clothing, I won't deny that.

I'm fine with you saying that you like the imagery of the faces covered in cloth as a show statement - the concept however, doesn't work out in real life when the bandages are by far shorter and you are simply forced to wrap them around your neck like a loose skarf... then again, I doubt anyone would want to walk around with the face entirely mummified.

i see nice pieces here and there
but the face covering is too distracting..whatever the meaning is for the covering..it's not so great

Okay so some things are questionable,I personally haven't seen or felt any of it, but judging purely by what I've seen through the net,one cannot deny his amazing sense of craft & detail(his handwork is extremely intricate) nor his sense of tailoring and dressmaking skills. His clothes are filled with loads of genuine personality which is really quite rare in this corporate world.

It feels a little bit boring and stunted to be honest, nothing all of that revolutionary. Great detailing, and I'm not doubting that they are beautifully made, but yeah... blah .... I'm not even going to bother talking about the face coverings.

Oh yeah! that jacket is very very beautiful... the leather is so delicate, I couldn't stop touching it :woot:

Avantster: I havent seen the men's collection, i mean in pictures that is. They had a few pieces at the store including a long jacket with a scarf attached to it. It was nice but i didnt like the material. Its like a wooly furry material that will wear really fast.

They also had the coat i was thinking about before with the fur collar and the hidden pocket detail, but again it was made of the same material. The cutting and fit was good on both of them though. They also had come suit style jackets that were cut too strangely for my liking.

They also had some jeans and some t-shirts as usual. And they had a two layered sweater that i tried on, it was a black LS T-Shirt with a mesh cotton layer on top. It is not as cool as it sounds. Needless to say i left empty handed which was quite disappointing, but it was ok because that means I have more money for Number Nine stuff when it arrives.

Bazilla: Makes me kinda wish they made a men's version of that jacket in Black... Though im still not sure what opportunity i would have to wear it..

I like this "terrorist" trend...if you know what I mean...I just saw some collections that had terrorist features...and undercover is the most obvious one...imo...

^ it is. They're also recycling alot of old graphics they used previously except with a "twist"effect added on top some of the graphics. Really lame.

Monty76: that UC tee was a limited release, a so-called preview tee into the AW06 season. Nothing unique whatsoever, I am a disappointed with the tee design this season; if they are called designs.

Cheers Monty, seems like menswear is a little hit and miss at times. The jackets sound interesting.. if not for the fabric. Too bad there's no menswear show.

That tee is very disappointing, it's painfully obvious and seems like there was almost no thought put into it. Then again I've never really understood the appeal of UC's graphic tees given their price points...
