Underrated Actors

Zach Gilford. He was so great in Friday Night Lights, he was robbed of an Emmy nomination, imo :(

I think that almost whole cast of FNL in underrated. They were all so amazing, I'm sad that the show ended.

I think Jared Leto is pretty underrated as an actor. He's made some amazing films, but people don't really seem to recognize it. I'd wish he'd dedicate a bit more time to the craft rather than his music, but oh well.

I agree Jared Leto is a good actor. I only discovered that a few years ago, he was a good surprise (I always thought that singers can't act, but he proved me I was wrong...).

I only saw one movie with Evan Rachel Wood (she was like 15 in it) and I thought she was really good (among the best)! Sometimes, it seems that relationship with Marylin Manson makes people ignore her as actress...and see her as the girlfriend (or ex, I have no ideia if they are still together) of MM. Sad...

^technically it´s "actors can´t sing" LOL wasn´t he an actor first? :)

I think he was...But I usually think of him as the vocalist of the "30 seconds to Mars" that made some movies:D. I always see him in that "role" now...

Are you all to young to remember My So Called Life? He was a successful actor before he was a successful singer. I don't think anyone who has seen Requiem for a Dream would argue that he has talent in bucket loads. He'll always be Jordan Catalano to me.

I'm not trying to turn this into a discussion on "racism" but I think alot of black actors/actresses are underrated; mainly because there's not alot of good roles out there for them to showcase their talent consistently.

Idris Elba - he was the only good thing about Takers, and he was mindblowing in Sometimes in April. That performance is so amazing, and he totally should've gotten an Emmy nod.

Kerry Washington - Obviously girl can dress, but she can act too. Loved her in The Last King of Scotland, Ray, Mother & Child, and Life is Hot in Cracktown.

Chiwetel Ejiofor - Two words. Kinky. Boots.

Also:
Peter Sarsgaard (who was born on my birthday!B))
Philip Seymour Hoffman
Gael Garcia Bernal

I understand and agree, there aren't enough roles not only for black actors but other ethnicity like Asians. They usually get a supporting role if lucky or in some typecast. Plus most films that gains credit in acting tend to be historical or period film or book adaptation etc that doesn't allow this variety in roles, well in my opinion. Lets hope for original screenplays in the future to change this but highly doubt it with Hollywood these days.

Agreed. Jordan Catalano will always be how I remember him. Such a great actor and character! And he certainly made loads of girls hearts a flutter ^_^
And I think Heather Morris from Glee is rather underrated, her character is getting more screen time now, but to me she makes the show compared to many of the other actors. Her comedic timing is perfect.

Idris Elba just got nominated for the Emmys :)
as Lead Actor for Miniseries or Movie for Luther. There´s some justice after all, he plays it so perfectly!

:woot::woot::woot::woot::woot::woot:Go, Idris!!!!! I'm freaking out right now! Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) is also nominated!

Billy Crudup is criminally underrated. I don't give a crap about his personal life in the past. He's a terrific actor and deserves more of a status than he's got. Saw him recently on Broadway in Arcadia, and I actually saw him in it in 95 too. I'm torn as to whether Almost Famous or Stage Beauty is his best film, but that scene in stage beauty where he's trying to prove he can play a man is heartbreaking.

Billy Crudup is awesome. I love him in pretty much everything I see him in. Just watched him in Too Big to Fail (that whole cast was awesome to be honest), but he was definitely one of the stand outs.

Patrick Wilson. He is a brilliant actor thats been in a lot of good films. I am susprised he hasn't won a Golden Globe or Oscar yet. Plus hes really good looking, I mean really really good looking.

Kelly MacDonald. She's brilliant and I don't think she gets the attention she deserves.

Viola Davis...why isn't she in more films? She's so talented and I hardly see her in anything.

And he can sing and dance too! I've seen him on Broadway numerous times in so many things. really talented.

Chris Pine is another one I think people forget/get the wrong idea about. His high profile roles doen;t do him the credit he deserves. Watch him in something like Bottle Shock or Smokin Aces. He's got incredible stage presence too. I saw him on stage in The Lieutenant of Inishmore and Farragut North, which is actually been made into the movie The Ides of March, he played the role Ryan Gosling is going to play in the film. Really good. On a side note Smokin Aces is the only time I've seen Ryan Reynolds be good in anything! lol
