firstly, mary kate and ashley have been around for nineteen years, not a few months like ur making out, and their current popularity after such a long time in the media surely shows that they have earned some right to be on the cover.

just because ashleys young doesnt mean she's any less deserving than people like Uma Thurman or Angelina Jolie, whos styles and fashion choices dont even compare to the innovation and flare displayed by the olsens.

also, mary kate and ashleys style is totally different to that of Kate Moss. perhaps u should actually view some pics of how they dress before pressuming that they copy people like kate.

i also think the olsens deserve more credit for their style at the moment and the right to be on the cover as their current influence on fashion is huge. u only have to look at what people on the street are wearing, or other stars like lindsay lohan, nicole ritchie or jessica simpson to see how much people have been influenced by the style of the olsens.

WOW calm the F**k down. God you don't have to be so mean. I get it, your a fan. Everyone has different people they look up to for fashion. You might think that Mischa's style is way over rated but others don't, just like you with the Olsens.

I never said they had only been around a few months. I meant that they are "new" to the adult world. They were babies when I was a child and I'm sorry to say but some mature women in their 30s, 40s + don't really want to read about an 18yr old.

AND if you read what I said I don't have a problem with her being on the cover and in a way I like that about Bazaar, that they don't chose the same faces all the time and it's also a nice choice to have one of the twins and not both. I think they have done really well for themselves considering they are really young.

and I DO look at pictures of the Olsen and see there style and I never said there was anything WRONG with it but my opinion is that they don't start the "trends" and I was just using Kate as example.

You need to take a chill pill and get over it. I wasn't being insulting.

What? The Olsen twins are VERY famous. Of course...I don't like either one of them. They act too baby-fied. So do their facial expressions....

I don´t think they are that famous.
I had never heard of them before buying last years allure and connecting them to that Tv soap that they did when they were little....and i am a pretty informed person.

So, either they are getting known here and it´s a teen fenomena or they are still unknown for most of the people wich is more of my guess.

You can say that they are very famous in North America, but my guess is that in most countries they are pretty unheard of. They are teens and all they did was teen movies, if you are not a teen and don´t live in north america my guess is that you don´t know them!

I don't like the cover due to Ashley's expression, but (one of) the inside photo is lovely.

My opinion on the whole Fashion Icon situation pertaining to Ashley & Mary Kate is ~ They are known by many for their style that has indeed inspired a lot of young girls/ladies. A style that was dubbed, I believe 'Ashcan Chic' due to them sometimes wearing oversized clothes and accessories on their very tiny figures.

In any event, while I personally have nothing against the Olsen Twins, infact I wish them much continued success...they don't really appeal to me. I must vouch however and say that I am glad that Ashely is on the cover as oppose to MK who looks like a H.A.M (aka Hot *** Mess) most of the time in my opinion. Now with that being said just because I don't care for them obviously doesn't mean that others feel the same way.

They like many celebs have been put on a pedestal due to the way they dress, even if the majority of the credit should be given to a stylist. But that is the thing nowadays, I have seen plenty of times people giving props to celebs when Sally down the street may have been rocking a certain style that say..Sienna Miller is getting credit for nowadays. Yet since Sienna is in the public eye she will obviously be labeled as a Style Icon & whatnot. Just like with MK & Ashley them wearing baggy clothes & lots of trinkets isn't anything new...but them being in the spotlight and on a bigger platform they are given that praise.

So again to some they are Style Icons & to others they are not. B)

I like those pics of Ashley. Her smile, well, is a little goofy, but stars have their trademark...whatever. The duck lips are her trademark 'smile', Mary-Kate's too.

I think it's great that she did the cover w/o Mary-Kate. Not that I have anything against MK, mind you, but I think it's a big step for her; she's asserting her indentity as an individual publicly, possibly for the first time. Magazine covers are huge, as is her declaration of existing independently of her sister. She's 'out of the closet' and yelling it. Loudly.

As far as what she's wearing:
The cover pic is classic, a dress..Dior, I think? The pic on the inside of the mag is a little more her own style, a little more individual. Of the two twins, Ashley's style is a little more dress-up than MK's, BUT they both do the boho/bobo thing. I think the pic on the inside is a nice blend of the dress up and boho/bobo, with the exception of maaaaybe the fur.

Also, these girls DO work. Hard. They don't come from money, they earn it. Themselves.

I don't get why people keep on mentioning stylists I've never heard of them mention one before and we see paparrazzi pics of them shopping all the time. They have pretty much bought their entire wardrobes and it's not as if someone comes to their apartments everyday and helps them dress to walk their dogs.

count me in as someone you thinks this bazaar is bleh. the only reason the olsens are special is because there are tow of them. when they start dressing differently and seperating, they just become two dull girls. I could walk through my dorm and find you twenty much prettier girls in as many minutes.
and I've alos never understood people who get mad at others for not kissing a celebrity's ***. I mean, the olsen twins aren't reading this, they don't care, love em, hate em, it makes no difference, they're rich and have lots of blow either way.

^ The example that oceanharlot was speaking of, at least what it seems she was getting at, was that young girls should follow the example of working hard to get somewhere in life and still stay grounded. So yes, they have their problems, but in a way it shows that they're real, they're not these perfect beings that girls can't relate to. But despite their issues they still deserve respect for how far they've come in such a short time. They're the youngest self-made millionaires in the world....that is definitly something to respect even if you don't particularly like them.

I LOVE ( ) the dress on the cover!!! But don't really like the Olsens style. But if there is an interview it would be interesting to read. Its good to see the girls doing things individually now. Are they fashion icons though? Well, thats debatable. I'm not going to call them that but some people like what the girls wear so to those people the Olsens are icons. They have put me off the boho look though, so they are the antistyle icons in my mind But hey, like I said it is good to finally get to see them as individuals. And Ashley look great in blue!!!

well, I have never read Harpers bazaar but I thought Ashley would be good cover star, atleast better than lindsay lohan who I guess was also in the cover.. I think I'm going to buy the ashley issue, just to see what's it all about..

Personally I think she looks great, really glowing plus I love the clothes they've put her in.

And to the comment that she is in the same league as Paris Hilton is way off the mark as at least the Olsens are self made and have worked their entire lives for their money whereas Paris is living off her parent's wealth.

All the work Paris has done has been as a result of her parent's success.
