^Me too. I guess it's sort of endearing that Mariah is still so in love with frosty makeup and skintight dresses from decades past; but because of that I find her so irrelevant to now. For me, she's never more than boring and repetitive.

Oh I just had a good laugh at this but you know what, she's happy, she's doing her thing and she's relatively inoffensive. I can't expect her to look good or even non-hootchie in photoshoots. She's just not that kind of woman - she is really one of those people whose style is completely different from anything I like but I'm almost glad she's not tasteful because that just isn't who she is.

Any word on the editorials inside? US Elle has had some semi-interesting edits lately.

i wouldn't go that far, but to each her own...
imo pregnant britney (for an anniversary cover no less!) was the worse elle cover...
and the jessica simpson ones are not far behind...

i'm with you luxx on the eds...they always have an interesting model mix...

It's probably a good issue because it's an August but who knows nowadays. Elle has been changed over the last year and I've basically stopped reading it because of that. I don't like the cover either.

BTW....why does every dislike Mariah? She's beautiful, fairly young and extremely talented. She's a legendary singer. If anyone cared to read about her past, she's been through lots of things that tend to have her retrograde to her childhood. She's very professional though and remember, she has been in the limelight since she was 19 years old, which could get overwhelming for anyone in this industry.

Same here, I've been so busy with school/work the past 6 months that I havent actually had time to look through the past issues. But just casually flipping through them, there is nothing that holds my interest. Same with US Vogue.

But since it's an August issue, we might be pleasantly surprised.

OMG i blocked that one out and now it all came back. That was a definition of a bad cover, even worse than her HB pregnant one.

I also remember one truly bad with Sharon Stone wearing some military coat looking like a Cruella DeVil Goes To War.

Their best covers were when they featured models and it was not only the studio shots and so much text.

every time i see mariah on a magazine cover a little part of me dies. this cover looks very 80s, in a trashy and un-knowing way. US elle sinks to new lows with every passing month.

I received the mag yesterday but don't have my own scanner, so I was wondering if someone could please scan the article on Agathe Snow on page 217 and it's accompanying spread on the next two pages?
Also, Kate Lanphear's Editor Picks on page 132 are so perfect, I think our wardrobes are incredibly similar although there's no way I'd shell out $295 for a D&G Ziggy Stardust tee!
