US GQ April 2020 : Daniel Craig by Lachlan Bailey

Preach.

He really really really should grow a full beard that will hide half of his face (but not one of those gross Duck Dynasty hillbilly beards that look like unkempt pubic hair). Then he would be certified hot. That body and those eyes. Woof.

Any men with a good body can get away with “hot” if only they'd grow I beard. A beard for a man is what long, full thick hair is for a woman.

I just cant with comments like this. Do you even realise how rude and simply problematic this is? "He is only hot when he hides half of his face", everyone has a different taste and implying someone is ugly (because thats what you do) is cross. I don't understand why people always have to be so mean on this forum.

^^^ LOL I’m sure Craig— an actor who’s known for his “looks” than his acting abilities, will be just fine with my “rude” and "mean" opinion of his physicality.

I can’t speak for [Piece of Me], but personally I think in this context it’s obviously not about sparing Daniel Craig’s feelings, since he of course won’t read it. For me, it’s more about being uncomfortable with mean-spirited insults about someone’s looks being accepted or even celebrated in casual discourse. I believe discussion about someone’s weight is prohibited on tfs. Though I’m not in favor of creating more rules to restrict speech, I think it’s sort of universally acknowledged that mocking someone’s natural physical appearance is unkind and no more acceptable than mocking someone’s weight. I’d certainly consider Daniel Craig to have plenty more sex appeal than I do, so hearing him talked about as though he looks disgusting doesn’t do wonders for my self esteem. Now of course it’s not anyone’s job to spare my feelings or boost my ego, but I think keeping the criticism directed towards fashion, photography, styling, acting or modeling skill, editorial choices, etc. is more fair to everyone.

^^^ Because a shoot that has him mostly naked showing off his body and bedroom eyes on the cover in various alluring poses shouldn’t make be at all about pure physical attraction… LOL If someone is too sensitive and fragile to rush to the conclusion of an opinion that a beard would “improve” his looks somehow implies he’s “ugly” or that every man without a beard isn’t attractive— than that’s on them.

Context is important.

To be fair, you also quoted a post from someone that heavily implied Daniel's face was so unattractive, it scared them.

I don't think your particular post was so terrible, it was actually pretty commonplace. Maybe that's the point and the problem. I'm fairly certain in my 11+ years here I've outright stated or implied at some point over the years that I found someone ugly or mocked them for their looks, so I'm not saying I'm without sin, but my intent is to not do it again!

Yes, thank you! This is exactly what I meant, couldn't have written it better myself.

I really, really like the orange printed silk(?) jacket DaBaby is wearing from Etro!

Another pointless issue worth buying probably for an afternoon read, but not saving as part of a collection. As usual, the fashion content is either too try-hard or too dull for words. Ok, maybe only Eliud's is solid but then I'm biased. If you follow running as a sport, he's up there with the greats. Don't like the styling at all because it'd not refreshing nor innovative. If you've seen one Mobolaji Dawodu edit you've seen them all. Suits, bright colours, dapper etc etc, all built around his personal style. The guy must've fast-talked his way into this job or got it via connections. They really should get Jon Tietz to style at least one edit per issue!
Worth looking out for is a profile on the sustainable but cool indie labels (Eckhaus Latta, Phoebe English, Marine Serre, and GmbH), Eliud's feature, and an apocalyptic investigation on the global warming crisis which eerily reads like it could be the aftermath of Coronavirus. The rest are all fodder. A fitness columnist faffing about how to stay fit while travelling (I thought Welch said such generic and arbitrary content would be moved to GQ.com), some copy to accompany the above rapper's edit, and a puff piece seemingly written in haste celebrating Sofia Coppola's style, because how on earth could we survive without another reminder of how stylish Sofia is.

There is only one celebrity in the world I truly stan, and that's Sofia Coppola. As such, I cherish each and every bit of press she gets! Though I totally agree this particular article was seemingly written in haste and offered absolutely no new insight into Sofia or her style.
