US GQ April/May 2023 : Global Creativity Awards

I have no idea who that person is, but we're supposed to believe the photos on her Insta aren't edited to hell and back?

Nowadays GQ US: a magazine without any direction, taste or hint of style. They cannot produce a decent cover or an inspiring look anymore.

Why they deleted karol g cover? And why she posted that textbook?
I like some of her songs but dont follow her carrer, I actually dont even know if hes loved or hated lol

There's no return. Her cover must be printed already and the tragic part it's a worldwide edition. She can't stop it or even GQ.

The cover they gave her is absolutely an awful image but I don’t think that’s due to excessive editing. It just wasn’t a flattering angle and the lighting wasn’t doing her any favors either. Who shot it? They should be the ones called out lol but in their defense…. “look at the material”

A quick peek on her insta reveals she has no problem with editing photos, as long as it’s flattering.

Squid Game premiered 2 years ago...kind of surprised HoYeon is still getting these big covers.

No wonder Karol G posted the candid image before coz they made her look like a drag queen!
I honestly saw the cover and immediately thought 'wait she's trans..?'.

I don't know much about her, but have for sure worked out to her music at the gym :brows::lol:.. upon a quick look at her ig though, I actually don't see that much editing in her photos, her look is kind of over the top in terms of outfits/hair but you can see she favors natural makeup and there's hardly any picture with crazy contouring or like a hundred filters so she can look whiter/Barbie-ish/anime-ish/younameit, that Khloe Kardashian transformation. Plus it seems like she's talked about favoring this more natural image in the past (Vogue Mexico cover) so.. I'm going to guess GQ said 'sure girl' and proceeded to then add the image they had in mind for her later, which isn't cool. Good that she called them out.

Back to what matters: when is this out?? getting that Yohji cover A.S.A.P, this is crazy! :blackheart::blackheart::blackheart:

^ she posted this like a week or two ago, and it’s quite edited, imo. I get that she’s upset about the photo outcome, but I don’t think it’s because she finds the concept of editing offensive.

^ correct, that's why she said she tried to negotiate the amount of editing, not that she was opposed or even offended by the concept of editing itself. I don't think she was pushing for some Alicia Keys stunt. She just prefers natural makeup, not that hyper contoured thing they plugged in later. Magazines usually comply with these celebs/singers requests so that their covers are consistent with their image in their respective fields. Ariana, Britney, they've all looked the same on covers throughout the careers and are allowed to maintain control. Karol G clearly prefers that, too.

They could've lifted Tim Cook's eyelids a bit.. but guess men's image is non-negotiable..

Admittedly I just used the built in "translate" button on her instagram post, so some nuance may have been lost. It read something like "I don't look like that photo and I'm happy with the way my face and body look naturally. To make edits isn't just disrespectful to me, but to all women"

If GQ were smart, they'd apologize for making any edits and then post an unedited version of the exact same photo.

Somewhere in the first paragraph:
"I thank the magazine for the opportunity because I was very happy when they confirmed that I would be there, but despite making clear my dissatisfaction with the number of edits they made to the photo, they did nothing about it, as if I needed all those changes to look good."

I know it sounds petty but I feel like I get her haha, she's fine with editing, but not down with the amount of editing when you just become someone else. They did her dirty imo, it feels a bit 'we want to benefit from your popularity but also, not quite want your look and someone like you should be honored you're here at all so no control over our art direction for you!'.

I went to have a look and I honestly don't think they're that bad. She seems quite body positive, letting her stretch marks and uneven skin show etc.

They waste the chance to turn Tim Cook into some kind of thirst trap that Instagram people will get turned on.

Looks like and expensive version of Dazed... but worst

Not hating Hoyeon's story at all, there several shots I like a lot, but damn again, looks a like a Vogue rejected ed.

that picture isn't flattering at all. Even her knows that.
