After seeing @blueorchid digital issue uploads, now I know what you mean about the masthead fading over Anok's head. I have not seen this cover version on the newsstand. I only saw the black and white cover with the artwork by Lorna Simpson. I like Simpson's colorful artwork but not this version. However, I hope that is not how the masthead will appear in print with the trio of models because it looks bad.Well, looking at my library's digital copy, the issue seems to be 102 pages, although the digital page count is 120 pages.
It's only now that I notice that the masthead 'fades' over Anok's head - neither in front nor behind. But aside from the cover story, if you're looking for fashion content, this issue doesn't have much of it, it's more about artists talking about "the now".
The other fashion editorial is DOUBLE DOWN, shot by Alessio Bolzoni, styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, with model Thea Almqvist.
US Bazaar has also decided to revive the "Why Don't You...?' column in their edition, get ready for the most sensible of suggestions in the entirely opposite spirit to the original.
I'm so baffled by this revived feature... did anyone ever look in their archives and read the sh*t Diana Vreeland wrote in the originals? The current article is beyond lame: "Why don't you... wear a brooch?", ""Why don't you... treat your bath as a sacred ritual?", "Why don't you... dress for joy?"US Bazaar has also decided to revive the "Why Don't You...?' column in their edition, get ready for the most sensible of suggestions in the entirely opposite spirit to the original.
Probably just contributing this month.Gabriella Karefa-Johnson from Vogue to Bazaar?
Artwork by artist Rashid Johnson who contributed to the "Right Here, Right Now" special inside of the issue.I am in Canada. We always get the US version. I was at the grocery store this morning so I checked the magazine rack and THIS is what we're getting for April??? Needless to say, I passed. What is this?
I checked inside and it was the same editorial as posted here.

Disappointing that Canada is getting this alternate cover when HB finally had a cover I really liked 😔Artwork by artist Rashid Johnson who contributed to the "Right Here, Right Now" special inside of the issue.
Yes, there is also a third black and white cover with artwork by Lorna Simpson.Disappointing that Canada is getting this alternate cover when HB finally had a cover I really liked 😔

Yep, in the past two years, I believe Samira has only put one Asian on the cover (Jennie, last year). It's disappointing and hypocritical when you consider how much American magazines talk about diversity....yet it feels like Asians are often left out of that discussion. What a diversity casting but no ASIAN face? Thats always the case![]()
I see what you're saying, but if we are going to talk about percentages, we should also look at other POC cover subjects. For example, for this same two year period, there have been eight covers featuring Black models/actors/singers, which is 40% of covers (Black people make up 13% of the population in the U.S.). So if we are speaking of representation, then Harper's Bazaar is not really reflective of the country. Jennie's cover represented one single cover for Asians in two years, which is 5% (also not representative in the U.S).While I agree there is room for more East Asian representation on American magazine covers, it's a relatively small part of the population (about 7% of the US population is Asian) served by US Harper's Bazaar. Under Samira, there have been just a handful of covers (Awkafina, Liu Wen, Sora Choi, and Jennie) but within the magazine, I'd wager there is proportionate representation of Asian models.
Something I've noticed is that I haven't even seen Harper's Bazaar on the rack at as many stores as I used to up here. Maybe it's selling out lol, but Vogue, Vanity Fair, etc. are always there! Harper's Bazaar is nowhere to be found at the stores I'd usually get magazines from, even grocery stores and drug stores with big magazine sections! Let alone somewhere like Indigo!Disappointing that Canada is getting this alternate cover when HB finally had a cover I really liked 😔
hmm, that is concerning. I hope it's not a sign of them limiting their distribution here. I live in a large city so I haven't noticed it but will keep an eye on it.Something I've noticed is that I haven't even seen Harper's Bazaar on the rack at as many stores as I used to up here.
