Viola Davis is an outstanding actress I just wish she looked happier on this cover - I literally Googled her and when she’s smiling it’s just a whole different energy!

as Anna is so obstinate on not giving her a cover, will Edward do it?

Can't dislike anything here, because I LOVE Viola Davis! She is so charming, doesn't matter what she wears - I love-love-love her!

Oh wow, what a HORRIBLE shot of her, my god, from the styling, to that god awful make up, ugh! We see her so rarely on covers, and they do this to her?!!

I am definitely biased, as I love everything Viola does, so I do like the cover. It's maybe not her best shot (and does not come close to her amazing Vanity Fair cover earlier this year) but it feels like something different for her. Also the styling is something I have not see her like before so that makes it interesting for me.

I usually love houndstooth but that’s overloaded. The outfit wears her instead of the other way around. Viola looks best with minimal, understated styling. This just looks wrong on so many levels.

It's not even the houndstooth for me.
I'm sorry, but whoever did her hair and makeup should be sacked. Doesn't look anything like her. I'm not against edgy styling (actually, I am when it comes to darker skinned women because that seems to be the only way fashion magazines approach them), but this wasn't the time to explore that. Plus it's just awful work.
The photographers are also at fault for shooting her at that angle. Funny how they've managed to make the Disney starlet look her best a month or so ago yet mucked up an acclaimed actress who consistently does great work.

In a way this cover just reaffirms Laura Brown's inconsistency as an editor. Hit or miss, only she somehow manage to turn out either a really good cover, or a really bad one. Get it together!
