Might be my first MC purchase since like, forever. Say what you want about her life but the cover is gorgeous.

Last week, Marie Claire‘s December cover featuring Kim Kardashian surfaced just ten days after the reality TV star filed for divorce. The headline, which read, “Kim Kardashian Reveals What Went On In Her Crazy Marriage” raised a few suspicions about whether or not Marie Claire had known about the divorce in advance, and whether or not this strengthened claims that Kim’s marriage was a sham.

Now, images from the photo shoot and half of the interview have been released (you can read the rest when the issue hits newsstands November 22)–But they don’t immediately clear anything up. It’s obvious that the interview took place when Kim was still married–the actress says things like “I feel like where [Kris and I are] right now is the best time in my life,” and, “We have a lot of trust, and I don’t think either of us would do anything to break that. It makes life so easy. He’s such a good guy.”

But the story was definitely written (or rewritten) after Kim filed for divorce, and the writer acknowledges that the marriage lasted only 72 days. Usually when relevant news breaks so close to an issue going to press, only a postscript is added at the end but in this case, it looks like the whole story was rewritten. That’s quite a feat considering, as we mentioned, the issue was published at most a week, and likely just days, after Kim filed for divorce and would have required some serious scrambling on Marie Claire‘s part.

But apparently, that’s exactly what happened. According to a number of anonymous tipsters, Marie Claire found out about Kim’s split the same way we all did: Twitter, Page Six and Perez Hilton. And the features team had only a matter of hours to make changes to the story–a “stop the presses” kind of situation. It didn’t help that in all the cover shots, Kim‘s massive wedding ring was prominently featured, either. Apparently, (and rightfully so) the staff was freaking out over the last minute scrambling and decided to change the headline to make it more ambiguous and add in a few subtle changes to the story to make it more up-to-date. It makes sense then that Marie Claire would be a little, shall we say, peeved at Kim for dropping the divorce bomb, without so much as a heads-up or phone call, which is maybe why the interview has a few snarky lines like, “A sometime stylist, Kim was catapulted to notoriety by a sex tape that was released at what initially seemed to be a disastrous time: when the Kardashians were peddling the idea of a family show.” Right, initially–as in, before we knew how well the Kardashians could manipulate the media.

Aww is she trying to seem pure and innocent now? BS

They could have chosen someone better, heck even Kristen Stewart would have been better.
