US Vanity Fair May 2009 : Gisele Bündchen by Mario Testino

Amazing cover  She looks gorgeous as usual.
Loved her edit.

^^^^ Angelina is winning the poll because apart from being very, very beautiful she is highly covered by the tabloids, so everyone is aware of her every move hence, she is incredibly well known.

I agree that beauty is more than just skin deep, but I think it's a little naive to think that the results of the poll will be based on factors other than the physical.

They say they're talking about Helen of Troy beauty, that can start wars. Helen didn't start a war becasue she was a top chick, who helped feed the orphans and was generous and kind to everyone she met, but because she was spectacuarly beautiful woman who two men (and many more) wanted to possess.

Great cover. Thanks for posting

jealous of Gisele:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: oh my goodness, I haven't laughed so much in ages, there is nothing she has that I would want, she's a model, I'm an architect, she uses her body to make her money, I use my brains and creativity to make my money... I've never considered her to be womanly, beautiful, inspiring or enviable to begin with so that's out of the question. If you would die for what she has then fine but it would be easier for you to just photoshop your pictures like they do hers... simple.:flower:

I guess I am not as smart or special as you:rolleyes: :rolleyes: or maybe I am more humble and honest...:innocent:
I admire her very much for all her achievements and spirited attitude... and yes those check bones.... love them...
Ohhh and by the way I do not care whay you think :P

other adjectives like pretty, sexy, gorgeous, glamorous etc are more physical. beauty to me anyways, extends to the spirit and mind.

See, I've always seen it the opposite way. Being "glamorous" or "sexy" has a lot more to do with one's personality and how they carry themselves than beauty. Some one like Chloe Sevigny might not be the most beautiful woman in the world, but she can be very sexy. Anna Wintor is certainly glamorous but I wouldnt consider her that beautiful either.

Beauty is very physical. I remember a quote from Jon Galliano about Monica Bellucci that said when she walks into a room you can hear the cutlery drop. A person can be beautiful before you know anything about them. A person can be beautiful even if they have a bad personality. How many times have we heard "Yeah she is beautiful, but I hate her personality" . This issue is about someone who has Helen of Troy beauty. Someone who by just glancing at them, can cause men to start wars. Out of that list I think only Angelina and maybe Halle could cause a reaction like that.

I think that is the UK edition. This is the US edition, right?
They are the same in the majority of cases. Very rarely there will be a different cover such as The Queen etc but Editorial content is the same. Advertisements however differ. But we will get the Gisele cover and features inside.:flower:

ahh yes those cheekbones , if only we could all be so naturally blessed. I think outside beauty is more than just nice/perfect features. you gotta have the nice cheekbones/bone structure to go along with it to be above average (something that is very rare outside the modeling world) sorry but it is

WHO IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN IN THE WORLD?

Halle Berry
Beyoncé
Cate Blanchett
Carla Bruni
Gisele Bündchen
Jennifer Connelly She can pull off ANY look. She can be ugly in film or beautiful.
Penélope Cruz
Catherine Deneuve
Scarlett Johansson
Angelina Jolie
Elle MacPherson
Kate Moss
Gwyneth Paltrow
Freida Pinto
Queen Rania of Jordan
Bar Refaeli
Natalia Vodianova
Ziyi Zhang
Kerry Washington

I think Kate Moss should have got the cover. She's been on the modeling scene far longer than Gisele. Gisele isn't even a mdoel anymore, she's made herself a celebrity for nothing. This list should have been titled "Who Is The World's Most Beautiful Celebrity?" There are hundreds, maybe in thousands of normal everyday hard working women who are more beautiful than Gisele. I'm ashamed, VF.

^I would argue that Kate isn't even a model anymore, just a brand.

I really liked Gisele's interview, for once she was actually allowed to talk extensively in an interview other than just about fashion. She came across really well (although it did make me laugh how she spoke about some of the issues with Tom), and smart too, with a real grasp of what the industry requires from her but without being too invested in it.

I didn't have much of an opinion on Gisele the person before that, but I thought she gave a good interview.

^ Yeah it is a good interview but I wish she hadn't said anything about her step-son and his mother Bridget Moynahan. Some won't agree with me but I think she should have stopped after the first 3 paragraphs. You just know that some gossip sites and "fans" are going to have "fun" with it.

Gisele, much like Dr. Tobias Funke is a nevernude.

You can't tell in the bed picture but she's wearing a pair of denim cutoffs. They airbrushed them out in post production.

:lol::lol::lol:

In the interview they say the photo on the top of the buiding was done at 40 degrees weather... wow that is cold to be in a corset!

^ kate has lost some visibility latelly, and Gisele & Tom have gained it. Kate is a celebrity as well and even more than Gisele. I think kate is not as beautifull...That might be why.

I do love the cover and edit. She looks stunning in every shot. I especially love the shower picture-it is so titillating and sexy. A little more sultry than what I'm used to seeing in VF. Oh, and I love the picture of her in the strapless black bodysuit on the balcony, even if it is SUCH an obvious homage to the iconic Newton picture of Elsa Peretti in a Playboy bunny outfit. Even if beauty is subjective, there is NO denying that Gisele has an amazing body (and great hair, and fabulous cheekbones, and stunning eyes...). And if a horse had a face like that, then that horse would be one GORGEOUS horse!

Helen of Troy is largely myth. Besides, in all likelihood the war was started over reasons more to do with politics than Ms. Troy's beauty. They prob. used Helen as a good excuse to invade.

Beauty is very physical. I remember a quote from Jon Galliano about Monica Bellucci that said when she walks into a room you can hear the cutlery drop. A person can be beautiful before you know anything about them. A person can be beautiful even if they have a bad personality. For me, I think causing that kind of "captivated" reaction in people has to do more so with charisma and presence than just mere good looks. Even if you have god-like beauty but zero anything else, the impression falls flat on people.

It's like seeing a perfectly crafted vase but not paying much attention to it because it doesn't really stand out.

Helen of Troy is entirely a myth. I think most people know that, or should know that. So was the Trojan war btw.
But she is largely used as a metaphor for a type of beauty that some women posses. Her beauty was like a force of nature. Exactly like a sunset or a beautiful work of art. She was "the face that launched a thousand ships"
There are however, different types of beauty I agree and a lot of it has to do with presence (like Gisele). BUT when you are compairing women to Helen of Troy, you are talking about physical beauty first.
