more info on the cover/best-dressed list from fwd:
There aren’t too many things the likes of Charlotte Casiraghi, Selma Blair, Renée Zellweger, Fran Lebowitz, and Gwen Stefani haven’t left their impression on. But beginning in September, all five women, and four men—Prince Ernst August of Hanover, Count Menfredi della Gherardesca, Page Six’s Richard Johnson, and Kanye West—will be anointed into the halls of Vanity Fair’s 2006 International Best-Dressed List.
Kate Moss, photographed exclusively by Mert & Marcus, graces the cover of the magazine’s first-ever style issue clad in a white Michael Kors fur hat, white Marni gloves, and Azzedine Alaïa black patent leather boots. This is the supermodel’s second cover in less than a year—she graced the magazine’s December 2005 cover as well. Moss joins other international notables, including Condoleezza Rice, Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, and Sofia Coppola in the issue, which hits newsstands nationwide August 8.
“Kate had to be on the cover of the style issue because she is the most followed style icon of our time,” said fashion and style director Michael Roberts. “She looks ravishing whether she’s going to the grocery store or walking the red carpet.” When Roberts looked at the tally of votes for the International Best-Dressed List, “she got the most among women,” he noted.
As for the international fashion circuit, Ozwald Boateng, Hedi Slimane, Mario Testino, Stella Tennant, and Isabella Blow and Anna Piaggi—all of whom were labeled “Fashion Originals”—lead the pack, complemented by Vogue’s Alexandra Kotur, Ruben and Isabel Toledo, and Alejandro Santo Domingo and Eugenia Silva. Blaine Trump, Giancarlo Giammetti, H.M. Queen Rania of Jordan, H.R.H. Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece and Princess Marie-Chantal also made the cut.
