US Vogue December 2009 : Cate Blanchett by Annie Leibovitz

^It's such a shame really. When Newton and Herb Ritts died, they both got only a one (or two?) page article if I remember correctly and when Avedon and Scavullo died not even a mention :ninja:

I can only hope that it's because this is their initial tribute, and they're working on something much more lengthy, involving more research, to be published a few months from now.

It's highly unlikely they would do two tributes in a row.

I feel they could be more respectful to Irving in a way, rather than to rush out a two-page tribute but to do a full-on tribute next year, it's really not about getting the tribute out as soon as possible, tributes are meant to be respectful and not rushed.

I mean it's Irving Penn, if they could do a in-depth story on Steven in the May issue, I'm sure Irving deserves much more, after his death and his immense contributions to Vogue.

"A few months from now" would be around April, a good gap between now and then - though I'm talking about something that should but isn't going to happen.

And they have a nostalgia article in every issue, so it's not as if they're afraid of looking back on a regular basis at momentous covers and people's recollections of times past. Ah, some things aren't meant to make sense.

^It's such a shame really...I remember correctly ... when Avedon ... died not even a mention :ninja:

Here is the reason:

"When Anna Wintour took over as editor in chief of Vogue and rejected an Avedon's cover image, he cancelled his contract, collected the rest of the money due to him, and walked away."

^I'm aware of what went wrong, but still Anna could at least mentioned him when he passed away. He was so integral to the history of Vogue, but alas.

OMG beautiful, beautiful, beautiful :woot:

Looks like an outtake from "In The Mood" by Meisel...Pretty anyways!

The dedication to Irving Penn is short. But it's beautiful. I think it's completely appropriate. What can they say? This man stuck with this magazine for almost his entire career.

Thanks for scanning. I assume the Meisel shot is an outtake from his September 2009 shoot?

And I love Raquels shot by Testino. It looks like an outtake from a shoot we will never see in full :(

^Hmmmm, maybe Raquels shot is an outtake from the MArch 2009 shoot.

^ I believe the Testino shot is an outtake from the Nightlife ed in the March issue
