US Vogue October 2021 : Lorde by Theo de Gueltzl

Well Lorde certainly looks like she was given the extra jaw that was taken away from Audrey.

I'm always a bit ambivalent about the Bruni/Hadid comparison, because while Bella looks 'designed', Bruni's looks seem like the result of an extra sour shot of lemon, none of which are particularly aspirational for me. I love Bella though, I detect a bit of soul in her pictures (I won't compare her to other favorites or ~the good ol' days~ because I'm equally repulsed by too much nostalgia these days and it wouldn't be fair anyway) but for her generation's demands of being just a tiny bit above average in terms of face, body, that element of glamour/personality.. she's one of the few that covers that in the right doses for me.

LOL "Killing me softly with her song” comes to mind with your brand of dragging.

Bella strangely has remained believably credible as a model, more so than these OTT types that’s from the Tyra’s ANTM school of modelling some are swooning over for, despite that locked-jaw face. She never appears desperately begging for relevance— but she also hasn’t amassed truly memorable shoots as well. She’s like Binks and Lineisy in that sense… and I adore Lineisy— with Binks becoming more and more favourable in these lesser days (...but I doubt I'll ever warm up to Bella...).

(BTW, the whole blinged-out gown against clashing ocean waves as a backdrop is a too common fodder nowadays to be considered exclusive to any one photographer or star. Like this shoot’s proven, as long as it’s passably high fashion-esque in styling and execution, it’s good enough. Sometimes us beggars can’t be choosers fits the bill in this current fashion era.)

there is an editorial by Annie Leibovitz set in Iceland with the model anok Yai and style Gabriella karefa Johnson ,was also published in the October issue of Vogue UK, for the first time a feature by Annie!!!

Wish Kate Bush (the 70s-80s OG Lorde) had a Vogue cover at her time (and Blondie, Sade, Belinda Carlisle...) and I'm a model guy! :'( Kids from today have more lucky to appear in media. I like this picture, it's more effective than Zendaya's cover (ruined by British Vogue art direction).
I don't like her new songs, but she looks pretty. I was a huge fan of her very first ELLE cover, and she looks more beautiful now.

Celebrities make terrible models.
I'm not a fan of the cover.
She looks so uncomfortable. Reminds me of the old saying, ' You wear the dress, or the dress wears you.'
Her facial expression looks dragged out in every shot.
The first shot in the frothy ocean could have worked, but she's still got nothing in the eyes?!

I'm amazed by the fact that I can finally see Lorde in the cover of US Vogue (shouldve been way sooner, 2013 Pure Heroine era). This really represents the artist that she is. Yes her face is not perfect but thats what makes her...her. And I love it.

Surprised to see this hasn't been reviewed or had contents posted yet, is the digital edition still not out?

152 pages, editorials are Lorde, Annie's (shared with British Vogue) and one called "Gaining Ground" starring model Quannah Chasinghorse shot by Jackie Nickerson, which has been on vogue.com for a while. There's a feature on Manolo, a feature with photos from Annie's new book, a feature/ed on Edie's new house (also shared with British Vogue, I think?)

Yes, there's an article about Edie's house in UK Vogue.

You'd think that with the little content we get now, at least there'd be more variety between the two main editions... Pathetic. Still, gonna buy for my girl Lorde when it comes to newsstands here, but I'm boycotting.

i don't see anything cheap about this. i love the "analog" quality to it, something leibovitz would never achieve these days.

gorgeous cover!

I like this second half of US Vogue cover, but it's a shame the shared content. In this case, at least, I trust in Edward, more than Anna. I'm glad he's now behind VI and VP and not her. Despite his covers with celebs, he embraces fashion.

I got my copy. Cover is horrible. Her top looks like it’s superimposed. Looks very fake.

Although I don't usually post reprints, the Leibovitz editorial feels at home here and completes an otherwise entirely empty issue.

Beautiful portraits of Quannah! Glad she has a Vogue cover. Annie's ed screams Nat Geo to me. Looks like a nature portfolio with models. Would have been cool the girls wearing only couture dresses and not North Face clothing, but I now, that place must be so cold.

This is Schiaparelli's world. Anna, Lorde, and whoever came up with the Parkas in the wild headline, they just live in it. It's all elevator music to Schiaparelli's symphony. Those flowers devour everything they touch, as haute couture should. I wish we could see them on Kristen McMenamy. If someone can pull off Schiaparelli's masterpiece, it's her.

grabbed this one yesterday and God I could not think twice as it’s another rather slim issue… I guess what Anna can’t demand from her cover subjects anymore she’s projecting it on the magazines appearance….

the cover looks great, it’s amazing to have a Schiaparelli outfit on it that also suits the person wearing it so well. the main editorial is also gorgeous.
not much to say about the rest, the reprint shared with Vogue UK is also very good.

I wish that at least the paper of the cover would be a little bit better… feels very fragile.
