Never ceases to amaze me how with just a few simple lines, these Vogue illustrators tell a complete story. Just amazing.
That lower black and white picture of Dovima is by Milton H. Greene. His credit is at the top of the page: I have found the Vogue archives to be very sloppy with credits in places.
Thank you for the clarification! I will note that in the posts. That lower black and white picture of Dovima is by Milton H. Greene. His credit is at the top of the page: I have found the Vogue archives to be very sloppy with credits in places.
I think when cataloging the archives Vogue must have had a newbie underling do the credit listings because in my research they often leave off blatantly obvious credits or misidentify really famous models or even simply leave their credits off. It must have been a MASSIVE job but still, as an archive, they should have been 100% accurate. Just saying We are very grateful they have allowed access so not complaining tooooo loudly.Thank you for the clarification! I will note that in the posts.
They clearly use different interns! (not that I'm complaining, tho). Sometimes they will ID models (but usually if it's the well known models like Dovima, Lisa, Jean, etc.) I think i spend more time researching models than downloading issues. . And sometimes, the information is just wrong. I'm sure there was an urgency to get the archive up and running so I don't get annoyed (ok, I don't get too annoyed) when there are blatant errors.I think when cataloging the archives Vogue must have had a newbie underling do the credit listings because in my research they often leave off blatantly obvious credits or misidentify really famous models or even simply leave their credits off.
