US Vogue Summer 2023 : Margot Robbie by Ethan James Green

I had all intention of grabbing myself a copy of this the moment it hit the shelves here in England. However, every last copy I came across yesterday was scratched and battered beyond belief, and for £8.50 I want it immaculate.

I am sorry to hear that! I actually noticed quite the opposite when I bought this issue last month (I liked the cover so much I bought two copies :grimacing:) - it seems that this cover was printed on a more grainy paper of better quality in comparison to previous issues which usually were scratched already at the bookstores the first day they arrived.
Hopefully it's just the batch you ran into...

It's such a shame nowadays - a double shame. Not only you wait for a decent cover to be produced from time to time, but you also can't enjoy it when it arrrives because it's printed on terrible paper that does not last.

this is actually so much fun, one of the best US Vogue covers and editorials we've had in what feels like ages! Love all the pink and bright colours, if you have to do movie promo for a front cover you may as well do it in style.

I have to say than this cover is amazing, it's been than the "pandemic" period, US Vogue relesased an amazing cover story. I like than Margot managed to fit all the looks on every photo, it's a rewind of the vintage features of the same mag or US Harper's Bazaar from the 60's to 80's.

All of that pink is just giving me pepto bismal vibes.
Margot Robbie is beautiful, but I almost never connect to her in fashion spreads.
She's kind of blank, just like Barbie, tbh.

I would love to have this one but must be damn expensive to bring it. No reprints of the main story in other Vogues? I don't care this time.

I received my copy the other day - the paper is so flimsy, it feels more like French Elle than a supposedly premier fashion publication. Remember the days when they tried to convince us buying the magazine was akin to a luxury experience? They could probably save some printing costs by going back to US A4 size.

The magazine smells like a typewriter ribbon. I like how Wintour's editor's letter states that she'd only seen 'about 20 minutes' of the Barbie movie before the issue went to press, probably the same length of time invested into choosing the wording on the cover.

The cover story isn't very Vogue, but it's colourful and cheerful, and because of that, I'll have it sitting out to look at, until something better comes along.

I could have read several pages of people's tributes to Michael Roberts.

Elle and Bazaar US has the worst quality paper.
French Numero, Bazaar and vogue has the better

Kathy Hilton-approved!

The cover is ok I suppose, but I'm not sure. Looks too Harper's Bazaar under Glenda? Complete with the corny styling and set design.
I get that it's supposed to be corny because it's Barbie, but take it to David LaChapelle heights. Be unapologetic about it. Not this half-baked attempt.
All I'm getting from this is budget constraints and a photographer who got handed a project that's not up his lane.

Glenda did a story with Margot Robbie and it was far superior to this one...

in London there is no longer a copy of this issue, it sold out in a few days, so I've been trying to get another copy for two weeks, it can be said that it will be an iconic issue in a few years

^Just coming back to this thread to mention more or less the same - expect with regards to the Northern part of England. The issue has been a complete sell-out! I imagine the issue has sold very well for American Vogue, so will be interesting to see those sale figures at a later date.
