I don't know what her contract situation is, but she has been rated one of the highest paid models in the world on several lists, so I doubt she is worrying about paying the rent in any case...She is still on pretty much every page of the RL website, so she is very much still involved... Vanity Fair did a cover story about the New Supermodels in 2005 when she was 22 and had some info about Val- she was evidently shot to the top by Ralph after being one of many just getting along young models doing several shows a day and all in the early part of her career...As we know, Val is incredibly private in her personal life and is seldom seen out and about, almost never even shows up at RL events, even though she lives right here, so it is difficult to know what she is really up to these days...​

It's actually refreshing to see her in different runway shows and popping up into editorials again. Last show she popped up at other than Ralph Lauren was Givenchy in FW09.

As much as I love Valentina, the continuous RL exclusive work was getting old and stale (like Carmen Kass for Michael Kors) which can get casual fans to lose interest. People cast her as a "one-note" type of model but I guess it doesn't matter. She has the luxury of relaxing much more and can work more if she wants.
