Valentino Haute Couture S/S 2015 Paris

I don't even care about the silhouette or the motif anymore, you know what you're gonna get by now. Instead it's just all a wonderfully warm bath of Northern Renaissance luxury in a castle on a misty hill somewhere. Put on a crown and dip in for 8 min, 4 times a year.
I particularly loved the Art of Noise score.

It couldn't be more dated. That dress with some stars and red sun is (childish and) definitely inspired by YSL's work in a way.
I don't know, their last collection was quite flowy, fresh and light, and this... this is so heavy and just bad. It's like they have some kind of an identity crisis or schizophrenia.

The first 15 looks or so are nice, but then they start with the handwriting... I don't think I've ever hated typography on a dress as much as I do here. It only works on that gold dress with the sheer cut-out skirt, where the words are in a spiral. It makes sense, it's designed. The other ones... it's just slapped wherever it fits. The closing looks's already bad by itself, and then they slap the words on the corset. It looks horrible. That blue sun-and-stars dress with "Amor" written in red letters on the top is quite possibly the worst dress I've seen this couture week.

Can you tell I'm disappointed?

Do they only know how to do only one silhouette ? It's the same dress, but embellished and embroidery differently, a strap added, a strap removed, different colour, etc. I understand sticking to what you are good at, but at least try to explore a little bit. They are almost as bad as Dolce & Gabbana at doing the same thing over and over and over again.

^^LOL tell us how you really feel !

What I am missing from this Valentino, compared to what Mr. Garavani used to do, is sexiness and glamour. Everything here feels too contrived, it's almost as those gowns could suffocate you.

And I agree about the shapes, there's this one dress and then a hundred embroidered variations of it every single season.

i love this dress:

as for the rest, it's either same old or extremely unflattering / matronly. I understand this sells, but it'd be nice to see something new for a change

I could not agree anymore. This is so just repetitive. They've been doing the same theme for what, maybe 5 seasons now?

I love the looks on Waleska, Hollie Mae and Adrienne but the rest feel....old. When you look at Valentino's archives even the ones from 15 years ago didn't look so conservative and dated

Those red dresses look like they're made out of the same material as our old couch.

I think I write the same things in the thread for each Valentino collection. Everything is stunningly beautiful, exquisitely made and very dreamy. And while I would like to see them shake things up a bit, I'm perfectly happy with what I'm seeing which is timeless and undeniably gorgeous.

They have all the tools and talent just it never reaches it's full potential... I loved the blue dress with the gold stars and the gold one after that (well the top of it) as well some of the lacing in the previous looks....but they style it like some farm milk maid and add in a ball gown with kites and a stars and sun painting that every 1st grader can do along with a glitter rainbow... just keep it simple.

I do enjoy looking at their collections and seeing what techniques they bring to the table, now they just need someone to make it look appealing, and yes make it have the glamor that Valentino was known for.

to me it's one of their worst collections, it's too costumey for my taste
