Vanessa Axente

They were not confirmed though, they were only options that could have easily fallen through. No agency would turn down such a large number of blue chip campaigns for a Prada exclusive, but either way Meisel really wanted her so they went with what they knew they could confirm rather than a number of possibilities.

Well, I said (the article said) those brands wanted Vanessa for their campaign. They asked for her in the agency; they showed interest in booking her, which is what is really important and impressive.

Of course the 'deal' wasn't even remotely done. She could have been easily replaced by another girl, but I think this kind of things doesn’t need to be explained… Even when some girls are confirmed they get cancelled, how can we suppose that by the simple fact of those brands knocking the door of Vanessa’s agency she was going to get them no matter what? But she couldn’t even try because she was a Prada exclusive. Maybe, if she hadn’t had the exclusive, she could have gotten all of them or maybe none.

She could have been cancelled from the Prada campaign too (she wouldn't be the first model with a Prada exclusive and a confirmed campaign to get cancelled :innocent: ).

I wish she gets another Vogue cover this year, hopefully a September issue. And I have the feeling that she’ll be featured in Lanvin F/W 13.14 campaign as OG (hope it comes true!).

^Although she was a Meisel exclusive too, so it would have been really difficult to get cancelled from the Prada campaign.

Everyone wants her, that's what is great. :crush:

By the way, I would like to see her working with other photographers too. 'Pure' Meisel girls fade away quite fast...

She was in at least 2 campaigns this season that were not Prada. One was cancelled in post production. The second I have not heard about in a few months.

I agree that she should build her career step by step instead of having too much exposure in one or two seasons and then disappears suddenly. I think right now Vanessa has already had the hype around her and she's been working rather exclusively for two seasons. I hope she can continue remaining this momentum and have a better career internationally in the future.
We will see how she does this fall season since she's no longer a Prada exclusive now? So far we saw her in Hugo Boss campaign and I really hope there will be more campaigns coming. I do think Celine is one good possibility. She's perfect for the brand.
For editorials, now she has appeared in Vogue US, I hope they will go on featuring her in the following issues. It would be nice if she appears in another Meisel ed in Vogue Italia or even the cover. But who knows. I hope she will be doing good! Go Vanessa!

It's so bad that one campaign got cancelled. Do you know if the creative team (including photographers/stylist/models/hair/make-up etc.) still get paid or not even the campaign they did got cancelled by the client? Just curious about this.:flower:

But if her agency's aim is to keep her exclusive... why would they accept the second line of a brand like Hugo Boss? It's money after all, though, but it doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway, too bad one of her campaigns got cancelled. I hope it's not Lanvin (if she actually modeled for them). And I really hope the other one is not Hugo by Hugo.

Vanessa is in Moscow at the moment according to her instagram, and the day before yesterday she was in London.

Some old work that wasn’t posted in the previous thread:

Alldressedup S/S 11(her first campaign… I wonder if her Vogue Italia editorial was named after it ).

By the way, I think she could be McQueen’s face this fall... But I don’t like that brand, so I hope that mysterious campaign she shot is for another label. I can’t wait to know!

Creative team (like stylists, mua, hair etc) all get paid for their time. Those types of jobs don't get paid by usage. As for the model and photographer, I'm not sure, but I imagine they get paid a rate for doing the job, more to come upon completion and delivery and distribution. The wider the distribution, the more money. I imagine there is a sizable kill fee.
For example, as the retouchers, we got paid for our work despite the fact that the job will never see print.

And do you happen to know why it got cancelled? I'm curious.

When I saw her name in the ad campaign thread I immediately began shaking, I think I need air.

I read Vanessa and started gasping, read Axente and began to scream, saw the pictures and passed out. :stuart:

That's like.... WOW! Huge! I'm still not a fan of hers but to follow up two season of Prada exclusives with a Calvin Klein campaign is like a dream! Though now I really don't understand why they let her do that awful secondary Hugo Boss line.

I wasn't fully sold until the Calvin Klein campaign. Those photos are iconic!!
