I like a few pieces here and there but am not crazy about the collection otherwise, although I'm always a sucker for lace...
Thanks for posting morbidexistence!

very nice, lace all the way!
I'm not a big fan of the face/body paint

Morbid, her name is Mei Hui Liu. She re-works old vintage pieces into something otherworldly and one-of-a-kind. I love what she does. So much better and more interesting than what Tara Subkoff ever attempted to do. Nothing ever looks the same as the original piece but it carries this heirloom feeling nevertheless. She really transforms everything that she works on.

The reworking of vintage lace really reminds me of another designer.. Magda Berliner..

I love some of the dresses here, vintage lace has always been a weak point for me..been searching for the perfect romantic lace dress forever!

Though I must admit, some of her designs are really too conceptual for me, but there's really a lot of ideas going on, imbudes her collection with a quirky, whimisical, otherworldly charm.

The photos don't do her work justice. They are so much nicer when you see them for real, and although I've never been a fan of those who call themselves "designers" when they simply re-work a vintage piece, I think Mei Hui does a fantastic job. The clothes do seem to have a 'presence' to them. If you can separate the clothes from the styling/make-up of the catwalk, all of the pieces are really very wearable.

i like the general atmosphere/mood, very turn of the century

thanks for bringing them in morbid and thanks to scott for sharing info on this label

You're welcome,Lena ^_^

Stilista, you and I share the same feelings on re-working and being called a designer. But somehow,Mei Hui seems to challenge that kind of reservation or criticism with her work. Like I was saying, she really transforms the pieces she works on into something completely different and fresh.

And I too love the lace. I have an affinity for old lace so her work has a soft spot with me.

^^^ you're right Scott, she does - I really do like what she does, it's not trashy like the usual "vintage reworkers" stuff turns out, I think it has a good feeling to it.

I can't remember seeing any of her collection in Blow last time I was in, but maybe I just wasn't looking  I've not used any of this collection yet, hopefully I'll have a shoot soon where I can put some of it to some good use!

Ack. I hate the styling of this show!
