Posh to host NBC comedy lineup
Hit special opens doors for Beckham

By JOSEF ADALIAN
Ben Silverman's influence over NBC is being felt in even the smallest ways at NBC.

After Monday night's Victoria Beckham special saw decent ratings, winning its 8 p.m. timeslot, Peacock execs quickly decided to repeat the show this Thursday in place of an "ER" rerun. There was talk of adding in some bonus footage or deleted scenes, but Silverman was thinking bigger.

"He said, 'Let's have Victoria host the whole night,'" one Peacock insider said.

Such a project might usually require weeks of planning. But Silverman wanted it done immediately, so within a few hours, camera crews were at Beckham's house filming interstitials.

"Ben just cut through everything and it got done," the insider said.

Result can be seen Thursday night, with Posh appearing throughout the Peacock's comedy lineup.

I dont watch much television these days, but damn, this show was worth watching. I laugh at Victoria Beckham and am one of the many who call her a robot. But last friday, I saw her on an interview with Leno and was entertained. The reality show was a little too setup and I find that the makeup and hair people as her best friends is a bit pathetic to me, and so it the overwrought idea that she needs them every time she goes out. But, I accepted it cause that's what the perfect-plastic-picture, and also television, has always been about. In the end, I actually ended up liking Beckham a bit. At least she's not prancing around town "without kickers on."

Her life certainly has a full season's worth. It would make for a great guilty-pleasure, but the last thing anyone needs is more of this celebrity culture.

I can't wait to see the special tomorrow...er...later today. (I should really go to bed.)

I watched it tonight and thought it was ok. Victoria's charming
and witty...I love the Beckhams!

She's so adorable! The special is cute. Yeah it's contrived but she's obviously taking the piss out of herself.

I hate to admit it but i loved every minute :innocent:
She really made me laugh.......

its a way sweet docu, but i hated the Simple Life kind of montaging moments and for that reason, im glad its the 1st and the last episode of it, coz I dont want victoria to be turned into something like those simple life slags...

after reading these posts it seems clear that a load of people didn't know that her PA was an actress. in the UK we had a brief flash of text before it started, that explained this was the case - didn't they do that in the US?

just kinda emphasises how fake it all was, which is a shame.

I'm kinda confused about this whole thing. was this just a special? or was this mini-series cancelled?

They were supposed to be making a series originally, but basically they only had enough 'decent' footage for a one-hour show. Thank the lord.
IMO there wasn't even enough decent footage for that. Hopefully they'll never find any more footage.
