Viktor & Rolf Haute Couture S/S 2022 Paris

I'm happy for them to return to the kind of direction that rightfully placed them among the most promising designers in the early 2000s - Their best collections were built around 'the grand fashion classics' (the tuxedo suit, the trench coat, the white shirt, ...), distorting them in clever ways but never at the cost of chicness or wearability - This delivers that beautifully, without the addition of tacky gimmicks. I honestly forgot about Viktor & Rolf for many years but this restores a bit of faith for me that underneath all the other things they did in the past years, they still had 'it'.

I love their sense of humor, reminds me their first shows

The proportions of the suits are spectacularly spooky. It’s Slender Man Couture. It’s fabulous in it’s weirdness. Unfortunately the concept does not have the same impact on some of the other looks. If they did an entire collection of coats and separates that would have been stronger. The dresses are the weakest aspect of the collection. They fall flat in fabrication and execution. The exposed crinoline on the pink gown is driving me crazy! The blue one shoulder gown looks like she’s paying hide and seek behind the curtains. They are at their strongest when it comes to proportions. The weirder the better!

Look 3 is my fav. It really hit the vibe. I agree ^^ some of the dresses are a bit questionable. I do like the yellow one though.

I read in the vogue coverage that everything's meant to be able to be worn with or without the corset structure. I'm curious to see what some of the looks are like slouchy!

OMG I just watched the show and the shadow screen with that silhouette and fingernails is so cool lol. In motion I liked a few looks a bit more

Fascinating. So Viktor & Rolf to take the current obsession with ridiculous shoulders to its absurd yet logical conclusion.
