vintage ELLE is always a treat! They consistently churned out wonderfully whimsical and daring editorial layouts which really made their photos pop.
I love the way the models and still shots often span the full editorial spread, rather than being constricted to either the left or right side of the gutter.
I get it's tricky from a design stand point, and frankly doesn't even cross the designers minds these days as few think too outside of the box but the images really come to life. And now that I share this insight, I will start seeing this EVERYWHERE and regret pointing this out lol.
Odd the Kate Dillon editorial isn't attributed to a photographer! Perhaps it listed in the contents somewhere? Also the contributing photographers credits on the masthead might provide a clue?
