aww thank you! i say just go by measurements cause those are always going to be the same. and definitely know if something's going to be stretchy or stiff when buying.

Ahhh I wish there were any proper vintage/thrift shops around here. :(
I don't really trust ebay, too ..
Lovely finds, everyone!

oh my gosh, you should so trust eBay...

we don't have any good vintage or thrift stores around here, either, and so I have bought mountains of amazing vintage from ebay. the selection is really good and i have NEVER had a problem with a vintage clothing seller. it seems like most of them are even more helpful, friendly, and honest than regular clothing sellers. i would just give it a try if i were you!

i should post pictures of some of the vintage stuff i've bought off of ebay...maybe i'll do that later...

vintage military style

what would fashion be without vintage military stuff?

reliable, cheap and stylish these itmes can be the perfect addition to your wardrobe.

my personal favourite: my austrian parka (cut like the amercan m65) i purchased for 12 bucks. i took it to a tailor and had a button-in-liner done so it´s even better for tose darn cold nights.

photo done by me;)

do you buy vintage military? what do you think of the "fashion brand" military style things - you know: the fugly d&g-armyjackets for hilarious 250 USD .

what are your personal favourites?

are there any military-style "all-time-classics" in the fashhion history? the m1951 parka? the ma-1?

^Lovely!

And, eleria, I love your dresses...I just wish your ebay boutique was English, not American!

oooh voodoo. gorgeous things!

i have been going potty on vintage hunting recently, as well as good old 'second-hand' from real charity shoes.

today from a charity shop:

royal blue Italian all-leather wedge shoes with sparkly bow and sparkly wedge (95kr = $15US or so)
garnet carpet-material plush Italian bag with leather handles (it had a little tortoise shell mirror in the pocket too!) (65kr)

Ebay:

silk dianne von furstenberg vintage dress in pinks and purples ($17US on ebay!!!!)

silk YSL Rive Gauche dress in browns with gorgeous soft leather cummerbund included (another ebay find)

waiting for:

cream one-shouldered disco dress . . . . .

From vintage store:

ivory silk old bed jacket with bow tie (this is my third one - love them but don't know how to wear it yet. jeans and a vest?????)

Does anyone knows Ebay-stores where they sell nice vintage clothing?
I know a few, but I want some more :woot:

Tell me! :flower:

Eleria on this thread has a really nice ebay store with mostly vintage dresses. I recently won one:D and hoping it fits me well when I get it because it is super cute!

I know ;) I really like Eleria's store! Thanks anyway B)

I recently found that my favorite local vintage store shut its doors for good. And I missed the close-out sale

IIt would nearly be fraudulent to suggest a suitable replacement nearby. The remainder of Omaha's 'vintage' stores are filled with racks of acrylic golf sweaters from the '70s and other cast-offs best forgotten, while my favorite stocked clothes dating as far back as the 1910s - all which were very representative of their respective periods, you know :crush:

It seems that I shall now shop nowhere but online (and on vacation...)

shoegal since you are in the cleveland area, do you know of any good places to get vintage items, not ordinary things from the Salvation Army.

Well, I have only bought and browsed through the women's sections in these places but one place is Unique Thrift on Lorain on the west side. It is kind of like a Salvation Army I guess, but I found 3 great vintage dresses there and there were many many more!

Another place that has both men's and women's vintage is Second Glance Thrift store. It is actually connected with a non profit agency in town and has lots of good stuff! The manager keeps the store at Lee Road in Cleveland Heights a lot nicer and more organized..I got a cute (in my opinion at least!) Albert Nipon vintage dress. They get great shoes as well..there were some vintage Christian Dior shoes (which didn't fit me) Cole Haan (which DID fit me!)and others

The Second Glance on E 55th isn't as nice or organized, but I did get some cute vintage flats that have sequin poodles on them.....

The only other place I can think of at the moment is a little shop in Little Italy on Mayfield. I have only been in there a couple times because I don't think the owner keeps real specific hours she is open. I think the store is her hobby or something. I'll post more if I think of others!

While I'm thinking of it, here is a picture of the Albert Nipon from Second Glance on Lee Rd.

It was the 80s pruple chevron stripe dress...really excited about it! I need to find a wide black belt like you have pictured. Where do you usually find yours?

voodoo, you have such an AMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAZING collection of vintage dresses, purses and shoes. Can I ask, do you Ebay a lot, or online specialist vintage stores? Or are there great vintage stores/fleamarkets in Singapore?

Not after your secret contacts or anything, but just curious as to how you source all this great stuff. My two best friends are like me, dedicated vintage hunters and they own a vintage store so have access to a lot of stuff. But not even between us do we have the quantity of stuff you do . . . :flower:
