i didn't care for it really. nothing in it really exuded vionnet, imo. even those grecian gown attempts looked terribly lacking. i miss when kokosalaki and audibet designed because they kept that intrinsic, integral part of vionnet alive and well. and we know sophia can whip up such elegant concoctions of grecian drapings like nobody in this business.
i tell you vionnet has been suffering through a real roller coaster since it's revival in 2007. firstly castiglioni of marni sold their stake in the company at the end of last summer to a london-based company which then led to the departure of their previous designers, the croces sisters who were only there since the end of 2011 when rodolfo paglialunga got sacked for no apparent reason. what's more, this makes it the fifth and newest designer they've hired since they revived the house. after two season they sacked kokosalaki, they sacked audibet after a couple season and then rodolfo. it's really disappointing all of this is happening under a guise that renders so much prestige and influence as vionnet. i think vionnet would be absolutely mortified the mockery they've subjected her name to.
