Vlada Roslyakova

^ well, i wouldn't care about my naked body in front of Andrej, who is a lot like a girl, and definitely not straight, but i would be just as angry as Vlada was because of that photographer... just not the same thing, she shouldn't care about A. at all.
just saying, actually i don't know what she said about him.

^ something like she first thought he was a girl and thought s/he was beautiful and thought it (not clear what the pronoun refers to from the google translation) was wrong after she learned of his gender. could just be that google translator was doing a poor job, so hopefully a russian speaker can clarify vlada's comments.

but we cannot help the girls decide whether or not they should care. it is up to them, and if they say they do, this dude needs to find out how to dispose of himself at backstage.

and i don't see how the girls' reaction should be different if he is/is not gay - so gay men shouldn't share a locker room/public bathroom with straight men? it sounds awfully like a line used by homophobiac populations in the military and sports world.

I'm pretty sure the comment that she made had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they're in backstage together. She thinks that him dressing up as a girl is wrong, period. That's why she says that "I like it when guys get manicures, but nothing more." Obviously the nothing more is about make-up and such. I mean I love Vlada and I will support her for a long time but you have to admit there's something off with her reasoning.

^ I don't think there's anything wrong. She doesn't like it, so what? Many don't. Its not the natural design of the world. Just because everyone is so bent on promoting it and wearing it on their sleeve, doesn't mean that other people would necessary want this to happen. I have no problem with Andrej and his orientation/what he does, but accusing of people of being in the wrong for not fully accepting it, is a wrong thing to do in itself. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. These days all people do is push this belief that EVERYONE must accept this and have a giant party, down peoples throats. How about everyone just do what they want and leave everyone else alone? Accusing Vlada of poor judgement is just silly.

Very interesting interview. A bit disappointed that Vlada isn't as open-minded as I thought her to be, but to each their own I suppose.

I hope a Russian-speaker will come along and translate the interview.

what open-mindedness you guys are talking about? it is vlada who may have to expose herself naked backstage next to a male model and it is going to be a bodily instinct for her to say yes or no to the notion of accepting such a male dressing up as a female and appearing in shows alongside her, and vlada has said no. this leaves us with absolutely no room to second-guess her feeling. let's all butt out of something that is between vlada and her own body.

^ I'm sorry but to my recollection Andrej and Vlada have never been in a show together so I don't see where this notion that she doesn't like to dress near men is coming from. She never said anything like that.

what normal girl would like to share backstage with this andrej dude? i was just complaining about this yesterday: he has a penis; the girls don't. the girls have breasts; he doesn't. at backstage everyone is naked, and no one is comfortable with the situation. new york times had this story long ago that vlada once chased a photographer onto the street because the latter was snapping pictures backstage when vlada was changing. this andrej is a lot creepier still by planting himself permanently among the girls

A lot creepier? Creepier than a photographer who is deliberately taking photos of models changing.
No one is comfortable? So, you're telling me that Alana, Raquel, Vlada, Snejana, Shu Pei, Kinga, Anja, yadda yadda aren't comfortable? They personally told you this?

^ i thought we are having this discussion precisely because at least one of the female models already spoke up about her feelings about that andrej dude, but if one girl's word isn't good enough for you (vlada's is for me), you are welcome to poll any number of these other girls

I didn't expect her to say so but well, it's not such a big deal that's her opinion period.

I think the problem is that we expect too much from models. Yes, for us, they are the most beautiful women in the world, but that's just the appearance. They also think, have a brain, and have opinions and it's not because you like someone's look that you will like the way she/he thinks.
But we definitely need a russian speaker here, I don't believe Google traduction ^^

I don't understand, she's supposed to be uncomfortable in front of a male model like Andrej but not in front of any male model, or male photographer or any male person working in the industry. Is this about Andrej or about a model having to be naked in front of people from the oppossite sex ? Cause i'm sure any model has had to be in that situation tons of times.
I don't know any russian, so i'm not going to go deeper in this topic, and after all whatever her opinion is, it's hers...so whatever she thinks, it's ok.

By the way, i like a lot the third picture of her Elle UK ed, the profile one. It's gorgeous. Thanks Greenway for posting

Where has all this talk come from about her being uncomfortable naked backstage with male models? She doesn't mention this at all!

This is my rough translation. I only know a few words in Russian so please correct me if I got it wrong.

How do you feel, that male-models have begun to look more like women? For example, Andrej Pejic - with long hair, make-up.
When I saw him in a photo, I was in shock! I thought, "What a beautiful girl!" And it turned out that it's a boy. I believe it's wrong.

But even men you see on the street sometimes look like women.
The fact that men have started to look after themselves, I really like. They don't believe any more that a manicure is only for girls. I am very glad when I see a man with manicured nails. And I think it is right that men have begun to take care of themselves. But of course, not when they go beyond that.

i'll scan them when my sister is awake sorry ive not got round to it already but i found out the scanner doesnt work on my new computer!! sorry guys i will do it as soon as possible

#38 very cute..like a bunny. well her vest reminds me of a bunny at least.

omg guys, calm down, its her opinion and if she says she doesnt feel comfortable in front of someone, we can only respect that..i heard some rumors that f.e snejana insist for some blind in backstage when she changes her clothes and i its normal to me..if she doesnt feel comfortable completely naked in front of some photographer, why she wouldnt insist for that?!..at least they are established, well known girls and dont need to accept strictli every compromise at their stage of career

Whew! A lot of things happened for only a day.

Anyway, her MAC shot is such a visual delight. Love it! Is this a beauty campaign?

Going to her controversial response regarding Andrej, I do respect her opinion and to be honest, it doesn't really suggest that she dislikes gay men in general. Besides, we don't even know what she meant by "wrong".

I love Vlada to death but in no way can I respect her opinion. I can accept it, but that doesn't mean I admire it. In fact, I'm offended by it.
As a society we should be progressive in terms of acceptance of others, not be reverting back to old prejudices and gender discrimination. To think it is somehow wrong for a man to dress like a woman or vice-versa is just the kind of gender conformity we're trying to dissolve. Who ever said high heeled shoes were meant for women and ties for men? I feel it's more socially acceptable for a woman to be masculine (see: Freja Beha) than for men to dress or act effeminately. Why? It's misogyny at its best: femininity is viewed as being weak while masculinity is accepted as being a powerful, admirable trait by the majority of the world.

I would have never thought to have seen so many on tFS defending such conservative, backward attitudes. Cultural transprejudice is the very thing we shouldn't be "respecting".
