Didn’t realize that was a skin condition...looks like a makeup tutorial. It’s not an incredible cover, but also not bad. She’s just not that dynamic of a model. Just another sob/empowerment story gimmick, I guess.
I’m getting kind of tired of this routine of everyone pretending like having a skin condition like this (or whatever trait it is you can stake your prized victimhood in (weight, race, disability, etc)) and not previously getting a Vogue cover until now means that before this, “society” wanted you dead.
No. I think it’s just a that some of us like having standards and like having creative industries and practices push aspirational and exceptional beauty and talent. Which is not to say that imperfections were ever out of the question, I just am saying it’s getting a bit old this culture of reveling in our defects. When everything is “relatable,” nothing is special...or powerful, for that matter.
