Yes, you are right Benn. This story was inspired by Slavic folklore. It was shot in Slovakia (Pudelka's homecountry) in a lovely village called Čičmany famous for wooden houses with typical pattern on them. You can see it on the houses as well as on Bara's face in the last picture of my post. Traditional Slovak folklore costumes were mixed with new collection pieces. He also used only slovak and czech models. Same as you I'm still surprised why he's not used more in high fashionI'm so proud of Michal and how he managed to showcase my beautiful country in the pages of Vogue even though people in Slovakia are complaining about the editorial that it doesn't do justice to the traditional folklore pieces. I guess they just didn't get the memo that it's a fashion magazine and not a folklore festival. Maybe it's because folklore patterns are finding their way back to the public, there are tattoos, smartphone cases even last years official olympic clothing of Slovakia had folklore patterns.
Sorry, for such a long post, I'm just very passionate when it comes to my country and I love Michal's work (he went to the same school as my friend) so I may be a little bit biasedAnyway, here are some outtakes of the shot
I guess you're the right person to ask: are those red dresses in the second shot traditional pieces?
