Vogue Netherlands April 2024 : Irina Shayk by Luigi & Iango

Hmm… Questionable… I usually like Shayk but this is just awful. Her face expression is on Jenner level. No emotions. Not a fan. Next!

Btw Vogue NL needs to fire the whole art direction department!

A standard Luigi & Iango studio portrait would've sufficed... The names alone got me very excited, but the result leaves me cold. It would work fine as an editorial image, but a cover it is not.

There is too much going on around Shayk. The setting is unappealing and distracting.

Old Vogue Italia in a bad day. Reminds me of to the early Farneti covers.

The cover reminds me of Vogue UK's September 2020 cover maybe because of the gritty B/W filter and red color.
It could have been better especially with the posing, but her face makes up to it. She's beautiful!

Comparing their recent covers to the ones before they temporarily ceased in publication, they have improved a lot.
They're also consistent when it comes to their covers.

Its amazing that a whole team was like this is perfect let it be our Spring Summer cover.

What a suffocating cover! Just awful! Dutch Vogue covers are always somehow heavy - if it's not a tiresome image, then it's overwhelming texts, or both.
I remember how light and breezy their first few covers back in 2012 were, the magazine looked so fresh.

I don't like Paloma's "dog pee pose" in the Balengiaca campaign, and this lifting-of-the-leg isn't any better.

LMFAO One of the prerequisites of a fashion model must be that one has a neck… And at least Irina possesses that, even while striking teh standing pee pose. I'll take it.

Nederland is such a solidly produced Vogue. The problem from the very beginning has always been that it’s such a blatant stan of Emmanuelle’s Vogue Paris, and hasn’t shifted the slightest from that stance, so it’s in this limbo of offering what's already been done and not a whiff f freshness (...the coverstory looks like that shoot they did with Madonna for Vogue Germany back in 2015). Vogue Living Nederland always comes off fresher and more genuine in its portrayal of and to its readers than Vogue Nederland in that sense.

Kate must have been the original coverstory: Why else devote 45pgs to her as a feature?

The absolute cheese of that Irina editorial. It’s painful. What a waste of a stunning model. I don’t think she needs to be a bombshell, but she deserves better direction than this.

Irina's edit is a bit tacky but I do like the cover!

Way not as bad as some may think but yes, from day one, this edition of Vogue hasn't brought anything new or that would differ from what past Vogue projects have been for years. So, the results are always a bit (at least) random with their good share of deceptions as well as some "lucky mistakes" lost among pointless pages. Don't mind most photographs here, not even those from that Irina editorial that, could have turned way better for sure, but doesn't hurt my eyes as much as some other recent stories lately.

Irina is one of my all time favorite models ever, but um... Other than that photo where her face is covered by the leaves, this isn't it.

I love Irina Shayk, I love Luigi & Iango and I love them together. However, the outcome here leaves a whole lot to be desired. The cover image is far too busy and I'm not overly fond of Irina's pose. The red Vogue masthead works with the black and white and that's about it for me...
