Vogue Philippines June 2023 : Bretman Rock by Regine David

an influencer (whatever that is), on the cover of Vogue?! ugh

it’s an ok cover and there are great shots on the editorial but would still prefer 1000 times a real model.

To the native English speakers here: Does using a double negative caption "never going to not dance" sound awkward to you? Is it grammatically correct?

Filipinos generally love and celebrate this cover for what it is, but I'm recently seeing negative comments regarding that certain cover line.

But I honestly dislike it when they use lowercase letters on their covers because they always capitalize "to", "is", "are" and such which has always been my pet peeve with publications.

It's correct but it just sounds weird because of the use of double negatives.

Regardless I like it

I looked through the digital version of this issue, and I think that in a fashion standpoint, they could have done a lot better. One cover editorial, one beauty editorial, and what seems like a reprint from another Vogue edition feel like a waste of $10.00. I am also not a fan of their sudden change of cover layout after months of sticking to what makes them different from other editions, layout-wise. But still, kudos to the marvelous Pam Quinones and her team for this wonderful theme. I guess Bea, too, but I think she's very busy redefining sustainability and ethics through her jewelry designs and blocking random people on Instagram right now from what I've heard. :handovermouth:

They make the effort. Which is more than the Western Vogues bother with these days.

The coverstory has a few really gorgeous shots: The leading spread, and the one wading through the water being the strongest and most casually stylish. The dancer's poses— along with the artsy-nonsenses of the seashells in the palm, are really cliche and cringe; it’s so contrived, even desperate in I’m-such-a-gender-bending-gender-breaking-gender-fluid artsy individual— all the while looking and styled like every gender-fluid exhibitionists out there on SM. If only the entire story was as serene as the two shots mentioned.

By far the strongest and best fashions story is Ethan Hart’s “The Gateway of Fashion”. The editorial/advertorial/feature story of Maria Grazia’s Indian collection is sumptuous. Is this the reprint? If there’s one story that deserves to be reprinted, it’s this story. Say what you will about Maria Grazia’s Dior— and there’s a lot of impulsive trashing for her, but her Dior’s no-nonsense fashions for women whom have more important things to do than trying to keep up with fashion victims, along with its campaigns and advertorials, have been consistently evolving into a solid offering. Unfortunate the shows are consistently a borefest; hopefully they’ll finally get it right. If Anthony finally go t it right for his YSL, anyone can.

According to their website (and a member here also confirmed it via IG), The Gateway of Fashion is a reprint from Vogue India's May/June 2023 issue.

Its a fun picture though not what I would consider a Vogue cover but the editorial looks interesing.

The Vogue name no longer means anything as far as I’m concerned anyone can be on the cover
:rofllaughing:
Now it's like the cover of a weekly TV guide.
When Alf, some blogger,or the Simpsons can appear on the cover with equal succes.

It looks like I'll be skipping this month's issue though it certainly isn't my fault why I don't (or probably won't) have it. They mailed me the wrong issue and assured me that they'll replace it last week but I haven't gotten any word from them since.
