Vogue Philippines September 2022 : Chloe Magno by Sharif Hamza

I really like it, I love the cover with that earth tones dress, her look, the island: gorgeous and simple.
I am not too crazy about the editorial with some strange styling choices or poses but overall the 3 covers are very chic and it's beautiful.
Let's see how they work around their first year: reprints or not and which coverstars they will choose.
Will they do a simple basic layout like Vogue Hong Kong maybe?

Quite like the idea of three covers dedicated to the three island groups of the Philippines, but that first Mindanao cover outshines the other two. Not the most groundbreaking of covers but beautiful in its simplicity and I like the use of gold for such a celebratory issue. A solid debut.

Idk...
The main ed is great...and thats it, for me

Frankly, other than 2 solid covershots, the coverstory is nowhere near good, let alone great— from a creative nor a technical standard: It’s very generic InstaTraveller touristy in its aesthetic. And the generic department store styling doesn’t help either. The BTS shots are far more lively. MEGA magazine has produced better content than this coverstory. But I get it, the initial hype is exciting for those that have always wanted a Vogue for their country. The proven power of a brand LOL

Also, we are yet to see how the art direction actually is. Text-less covers are a hit for debut issues. For all we know, this is just as terrible as Vogue India or Vogue Hong Kong (with their shadow text).
Indeed! :lol::lol:
There's also so much more to consider with this sweeping trend of minimal text covers (which btw I do like in some cases), I wonder how effective are they? Does the average person on the street connect so much with an image that they'd buy the magazine? In the social media age? Maybe I've been too conditioned to be courted by coverlines.

Will lead through it on PressReader.

You can now browse the whole issue free at pressreader.com

Had a quick glance - a whopping 400 pages with quite a few blue-chip double page ads.
The cover editorial is the strongest. There's a shot of the model in a pleated gauze(?) dress. Looks lovely. Some other shots also caught my eye. The edit featuring local designers also looks great!

As is the case with most Asian magazines, an extraordinary amount of beauty products and mentions which can actually get a bit crass sometimes. That market is on a completely different level.

The layout definitely needs fixing. Odd to tuck long reads between shopping guides. It cheapens the effort put into features. Art direction is neither here nor there.

Oh and I spotted Bryanboy in a campaign for lashes? Will probably work his way onto a cover at some stage.

According to Suki Salvador, Vogue's maiden issue will cost P850.00 and the future issues are P595.00 :)

The issue is available at newsstands starting today and also on Shopee and Lazada. Goodluck hunting!

Vogue Philippines is now available in Shopee. Price is 850 philippine peso.

That's 17 USD for a single-month issue, or is really
a single-month issue? I can't see SEPTEMBER on the
Contents section nor at the bottom part of their pages.

As per announcement of Conde Nast last January 2022, Vogue Philippines will be launched as a digital-first media brand with a monthly print edition.
