Vogue Thailand August 2019 : Liu Wen by Russell James

Happy to see Liu Wen on the cover of Vogue Thailand but it´s a nothing-kind-of-a-shot, no shape, no power, no energy, a boring pose and a strange look on her face. It looks more like a behind-the-scenes photo rather than a proper glamorous and powerful shot for the main cover of a top fashion magazine. But these days LOL... anything goes anyways and editors and photographers know almost nothing on how to attract readers and work properly and edit images, editorials and covers like in the good old days of print publishing when covers truly matter. You know? The days where real bonafide supers were rocking every cover around the globe and the influencer-brats-kids-nobody trend lol. Liu Wen must have posed much better and convey more charm, better facial expressions and an edgy pose. This is boring. NEXT!

A big no.

I love Liu but she doesn’t deserve this kind of cover.

The setting looks odd. I’m sure there are TONS of better views in Thailand. Second, whatever she’s leaning on serves no purpose as they cropped the hell out of it.

Also, whose genius idea was it to use a blue text color on a predominantly blue cover? I mean how brilliant is that?

The stylish is too much. The suit in itself was enough. The print on print is as eyesore.

Lastly, the makeup is in all sorts of wrong. It looks better for night, than for day. The brows are too thick

The cheap saturation of the second cover shows in the background. Same building, different color

It's definitely striving for some vintage Vogue Italia feels, but it's not fully getting there.

That being said, I do think they're beautiful covers, and Liu looks sensational as always.

Love the shots and styling but the blue masthead is not as good

The first shot is atrocious, the second one is only a bit better. What a waste of Liu.

Wow, Fulvia and David, two masters in their respective fields, really messed up with the hair and makeup here! I like Liu's pose, and the styling could have worked, but what bothers me most is the shoddy hair and makeup. And maybe get a fan to lightly blow her hair a bit. Give that good olf September feel.

Either way, Liu's first Vogue Thailand cover made a statement, but this one cements her as Asia's top fashion model. Because it's not common for other Asian editions to give an OG cover to a Chinese model.

Both pictures look like they belong in an editorial or advertorial, not a cover.
