The Anna story is one of those edits where, even though I don't like the end result, I can appreciate them for trying something new.

IF they coloured that snow in read life, or if they didn't regardless, i can't even imagine how ruined those samples got.

She looks stupid in so many of the shots, like she lost control of her face.

The cover is dull, I don't care for Willow Smith's jumped up pretension.

Kiernan is fabulous but looks like a potato on the cover. Such a shame.

Why so much airbrushing for people so young, totally ruins it for me.

Yikes, Anna looks bad, and it's all down to her posing. This is the first edit I've seen with her which I instantly loathe. It seems like she's got no clue what she's doing here, or what was required from her. I thought she'd be one of those versatile girls, like Freja.
What's more annoying is that McGinley felt the need to edge it up, just because he's shooting for W.

Steven Klein also has an editorial in this issue with Anna Cleveland, Violet Chacki and one guy called Caged Heart. You can see some shots in his instagram

I believe it's for Interview.

They airbrush babies in those Gap ads—why not teens…?

Given who Willow’s parents are, I think she’s come out rather tolerable (I loved her obnoxious toddler-romp I Whip My Hair LOL). And she’s the only one of the three that actually looks great— even reminding me of like a young Lauren Hill. Her and her brother are such pretty young things and really ideal for fashion that I think the cover and feature story would be so so so so much stronger had it been the two of them.

If you want to talk about pretension, how about Zendaya’s “I never played with Barbie because she never looked like me” grandstanding, parroting tripe. Yes, because unless there’s someone that looks just like you— that’s of your ethnicity, and even of your physicality and class now, no way can you relate to them, right…? How small-minded must you be to only relate to those whom are just of your ethnicity. I loathe these types of OTT reverse discrimination thinly masquerading as politically and socially-correct soundbites that’s encouraged as positive affirmation these days.

Anna’s edit looks a good effort, and even reminds me of the good ol’ days of The face and i-D— although a bit much ado about nothing with the colourful snow. But at least it’s not a terrible and lazy composite as the feature edit.

140 pages. The only fashion ed is Anna's

^Thanks for the info. What's happening at W? It's going downhill fast.

Whoa, that is so sad! Even the March issue was thin, i think for me its even worse than HB at this point! At least Bazaar has an interesting article or two, but in W there is nothing of substance if they don't score with their fashion editorials!

I think they're spending way too much time furthering the digital component of the brand. Tonchi used to say the old W was too snobbish, but at least the writing made it worthwhile for me.
