Walter Chiapponi - Designer

I feel like this brand is destined to be the next ESCADA. It's gonna take hard work to bring it out of irrelevance.

They really should've stuck with Brognano. I pray that they have a strong commercial strategy, because the fans gained during Brognano's tenure aren't going to accept this at all.

They've wiped the account except for Chiapponi's announcement and two white squares.

In all honesty, it's good news!

He should never have taken the job knowing the recent tragic events in his personal life. I hope he takes a good break and comes back in a healthier frame of mind.

This collection was one of the worst of the season, so they were right to limit the damage.

^ I agree. I don't think his creative direction was beyond saving and could potentially work with some other kind of styling, but the news made me feel quite sad because it's not Walter's fault that he needs a break. I'll keep my fingers crossed for him!

It’s surely the right decision…
He had 3 losses in his life in 2023 coupled with a fantastic professional life.
That’s quite a rollercoaster of emotions for 1 person and I can understand that dealing with that and the reality of the business of fashion is neither great for your creativity or your mental health.

We have had many examples of designers working after this kind of circumstances. In the best cases, some either gained weight (Karl) or left the industry (Tom) and in the worst cases, we had Montana, McQueen and what happened with Galliano as an example.

I know some people will try to insert this in the narrative of revolving doors of designers but this is actually a good decision.

I hope the best for him.

3 losses ? I know he lost his best friend and can you tell me who was the other one ?

Poor men, fingers crossed for him in the future

I genuinely liked his Blumarine show but you cannot deny the cloud hanging over it. He does seem to do a lot of humanitarian work based off his IG and I hope by continuing that he heals, because he is very talented.
