i looked forever and found it at a junk store.... in a huge pile of old murder mysteries and clive something or other books.

you can go on ebay, but they are so expensive...

the gto's were a zappa project... they aren't very good. but the novelty is very much there.

The Magician by W. Somerset Maugham
I just started it, so I'm not going to make any comments on it yet

You can actually get translated copies of certain English books. Check out the Language section of the Borders or Barnes and Nobles nearest to you (or whatever bookstore, but I know that they have the section) and browse for titles that you recognize or that look interesting. If you haven't heard of it, make sure that it isn't a romance novel unless you want one, because lots of them are junky. I have several Harry Potter books in Spanish, which are good practice, but I've also seen Memoirs of a Geisha and Girl with a Pearl Earring. THe translated ones can be slightly pricy, though, which is a pain. However, they often take longer to read than English books anyway, so you could rationalize the price that way I guess  .

As for untranslated texts...

Don Quijote is wonderful, of course, although you might want to get a simplified version if you aren't sure of yourself. There are others that are on the tip of my tongue, but I can't quite remember any.

Not very helpful, but...good luck! And have fun in Spain. :flower:

"Don Quixote" is one of my favorite books; it's truly a fantastic read for so many reasons. (I haven't read it in the original, however, which is terrible of me.)

I just read "Vernon God Little" and HIGHLY recommend it! Makes me have a bit more respect for the Booker people.

I finished reading "Bergdorf Blondes" by Plum Sykes and am now reading "Can you Keep A Secret?" by Sophie Kinsella

I recently bought this book called Citizen of the Country from Indigo. I'm sincerely hating it (much too macabre for me), but I figure that I'd better get my money's worth... :ninja:
