You just reminded me that I need to re-read order of the phoenix! So excited that I pre-ordered the half blood prince. Less than a month to go!! :bounce:^_^
Just started on Wicked: The life and times of the wicked witch of the west.
Can I just ask if the Shopoholic series is worth reading? Looking for some light summer reading.

I thought the Shopoholic series was pretty good- light but funny. Shopoholic and Sister wasn't as good as the first three, but it was still pretty cute. Good for when you don't want anything too heavy, I also really liked wicked-hope you enjoy that one too!

me talk pretty one day by david sedaris
&
stiff: the curious lives of human cadavers by mary roach :ninja:

so far so good. i'm still in the first half of the half ( ) but the whole environment of the story seems less depressing/dark than what i had previously read from him..very quiet and ..intimate (for lack of a better word) but not in a distubing way like in the unbearable lightness. :p

have you read this yourself?

you bet. I''ve read everything he's written, including non-fiction. i don't like his late novels as much - it seems he's run out of steam. but there is still glimpse of his genious here and there.

^ i wish i coudl call that yummy...feel lucky  ^_^

i kinda wish i could take english class again..i missed all the classics! luckily i am dating a book merchant, and he basically assigns me homework

moving on and reading Fydor Dostoevsky - The Brothers Karamazov and then rereading all of the Harry Potter books in anticipation of the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince...(currently on order from amazon.co.uk - ah, how I love the ability to order from overseas without picking up a phone - all my other HP books are foreign editions, only my 4th book is a US edition, so I figured, why break the cycle?, lol, so I again ordered a UK edition.)

...and then I'll have even more books to read when my next shipment from amazon comes in. haha. (next up on the list, Donna Tartt's The Secret History - my friend INSISTS I must read that book, so I will. :D)

It is really good. Much better than her other book, "The Little Friend". If you read The Secret History I'd also reccomend reading Crime and Punishment (if you haven't already) because there are a few tie ins.

i'm reading "what the buddha taught" and also "the house of sand and fog."
I loved the House of Sand and Fog it was well written and heartbreaking. The film was also well done (but of course not as good as the book).

Thanks! My shipment from amazon hasn't come in yet, so I'll be reading The Secret History when it comes in, but I was perusing it at the bookstore today and it looks good. I'll try "the Little Friend", too, and I have read Crime and Punishment, so I guess it'll get the tie-ins! :)

i am about to start reading Underworld by Don Delillo (again). i love most of the other books of his that i have read, but i cant seem to ever get into this one. should i persevere?

Franz Kafka Das Schloss (In German) and Tolkiens Unfinished Tales (in English)
