So the past three days I have been at working on a secret work project at my new job...so secretive that I had to sign a confidentiality agreement....(but it's V. EXCITING! :woot: )
I wasn't sure what the dress code at this company was so I started off smart-ish....and then it kinda diminished in a slummy way over the course of the three days:

Thanks for the kind words of encouragment everybody, I'm feelin a bit better today, went to my Econ discussion and some issues I had were cleared up. I'm still gonna see my academic advisor though as I'm already a junior and still ain't declare a major. "Heading towards a drowsy future," as the subtitles for the epilogue of 2046 says, is a good way of putting my life right now :(

On a brighter note, i realized the outfit i posted last night wasn't workin so well so i changed it a bit and maaaan I wish I had a camera so bad so I could share a pic of what i'm wearing today, this is the best i've looked in months!!! :woot: *end Kanye West moment*

 i wish my head got so big you could detach it, send it into outer space and it would be its own planet...gotta love it. :p

Susie I love your taste! Especially the first & second one.. Its so girlish. You look so good in each one!

Here's me in my customized thrift shirt... too bad you cant see the details.

edit: d'oh.. lets include the pic

love the purple cardigan! so ballerina like and it looks like it fits perfectly.
and i think i have a similar butterfly belt except the band is black instead. does it buckle in the middle?
you always look adorable!

Thanks everyone who kindly complimented my last outfit ~ Karma comments all around :flower:

Softgrey, hope your vest survived the wash...with white I would probably do the same...frayed effect might even get better!? I remember well & loved how you wore it layered w/the long babydoll top
Anna, missed your posts here & love this look: charming & tough at the same time ~ the new haircut is great
Susie, I will surrender my wardrobe if I can have your fab access. ;) lucky to have those boots
Urd, beautiful jacket- congrats

Thanks, Curious, Analog, and susie!

PS Pic of my earrings ... kinda. These are the large, I have the medium, which are a bit smaller & thicker ... a quarter just fits inside mine (ylang23.com, Ten Thousand Things). Have posted pix of jacket, shoes, bag elsewhere but can post again if anyone wants to see :p

Urd, looking very cute again ...

So this morning I was thrilled to note a 42 degree drop from the high I noted last nite after 6 (104 degrees, 62 this morning) ... today was clearly the day to break out the fall clothes for real!

So ... I put together for the first time

new grey/purple/pewter metallic tweed cropped jacket w/portrait collar (Marc Jacobs)
favorite old black wool crepe skirt, back from its little refurbishing at the tailor (Ann Freedberg)
black sleeveless sweater with organza front (MaxStudio)--bought last spring, just now wearing
black double fishnets (fishnet + laceup effect) (Donna Karan)
new black velvet/grosgrain pumps w/ lacquer heel (Ferragamo)
vintage grey birdseye Lucite bag
grey keshi pearl hoops (bought for this jacket) (Ten Thousand Things)

So I'm putting this together for the first time b/c it's just been too damn hot to try on wool. And I notice a few things (too many words because no digital camera to illustrate) ...

Damn, I remember why I used to wear black all the time! And, Ann Freedberg, don't know much about her, but judging by this skirt she's a freakin' genius! This black skirt is so great people stop me to ask about it.

Other thought is, good thing I am unlikely to meet Dita von Teese today, she would probably kill me for these shoes and hose :p Great neo-Gothic effect.

In reality I am long-waisted, but the combination of the cropped jacket with its peplum effect (I'm wearing it buttoned, it was open on the runway) and the long genius skirt really makes me look tall & narrow (I'm only 5'4"), so I am thrilled with the optical illusion ;)

But here is the sad thing. I have mentioned before that Marc Jacobs irony is lost here. So I just went out to grab some lunch at a place that's based in Austin, and I had forgotten about the side benefits of that ... there was a discussion of Tom Delay's indictment going on. And here is the really lowering part ... people started shushing the girl who was going off (and I was so enjoying her rant too) because ... in my MJ jacket they mistook me for a Republican.

...
genius...!!!...

i'm sad you have no camera
...
i'll try to scrounge up a pic later if i can...
rock on with your bad selves everyone..:mowhawk:...

nr9...
i'm happy to report that it emerged unscathed and back to its original hue....
so all is well....:flower:
