well...that's really the fault of american men...the most un-stylish group of men on the planet earth...

sorry I have to add - don't hit me softgrey with your big thumper - british men are spectacularly unstylish too. I am sure they are just as bad as american men. french men however..... I agree with you about paris - so many more avant garde stockists

Alex, the coat is nice, BUT like with a lot of Margiela items, I don't think it's anything too interesting - so if you have several coats already, think about it hard.  If you really NEEDED a coat, I'd say go for it.

Yeah, I know it's nothing spectacular, but I don't really have an actual coat, just a bunch of lighter-weight jackets.

Maybe you can help me here. One big reason I'm looking at the Margiela is that it comes in an XS. If you know of any great coats that either come in XS or are cut super slim, and you can find it for the price of the Margiela (around $412, I think), PLEASE let me know. On sale for less than $400 would be fantastic. :flower:

thankyou my dear. I get so mixed up with french and italian sizing. I am sometimes a 36 (french I think) and sometimes a 38 (italian) but then it totally depends on the cut etc. I think I have a prada skirt which is a 40 so you are probably right. I doubt the dress will fit in a size 8 (size 4 american).

Its quite depressing trying on clothes in France/Italy as they seem to be cut really small. :flower:

no faust, i can't... :(

i know what you mean helena...sizing is so irregular these days...it's so hard to know what size you are...i usually just look at things and try to see which size will fit me..without even bothering with the numbers...

of course...this is impossible when ordering online...so that's very tricky...i would have to say that you probably need at least one size up from the american 4 based on the sizing of that collection...

when i order on yoox...once i select the garment...it then gives me the european size..ie- when i order a marni american 6...it then says sz 40..does that not work for you?...that would be more accurate a measure based on the info we now have...am i making sense?...

anyway...
i think you're right to wait...you never know what you will find in january...

^_^ :flower: ...i'm a little jealous... :P :ninja:

you know that if you want something (which you saw before) I could always get it for you....

that's very sweet helena...but if i saw it...i bought it...

there are just too many things i didn't get to...i really didn't go through selfridges properly... and unfortunately...a number of the things i really liked were already sold out in my size... maybe you could have a look at y's for me...i did so love that pompom jkt... i adore the vivienne westwood pants...but even at 70% off...it's a lot of money for plaid pants...

ps...i checked for that grey marni top that i loved so much with the knot...do you remember?...they have it at the store here...it's $1000...so unless it's 70% off...forget it... :ermm:

the tse sale ws the one i was really waiting for...and i spent quite a bit there and got some lovely things...i should just be happy...right?... :ninja: :innocent:

yeh - the stuff you got sounded great. I'll have a look at the y's though. I bet it will be gone though. Not sure what % Selfridges will reduce by. Fully expecting only 40%.

Man that Marni top is a lot. I don't think its worth that much (even if the $ is weak). I don't think its that much nicer than say a Vanessa Bruno top.

The tartan trousers - well what I was thinking was this.... I can go to a kiltmaker & order some fabric in a nice tartan ( i think the one used by Viv is a dress Stewart) and I thought that a fairly full knee length wrap skirt would be good. Like a blanket - which is how kilts originated (but without all the pleats of a kilt). what do you think?

i like that idea of having a skirt made...sounds good!... :flower:

and i agree...the marni top is nice but not nice enough for that kind of money...it's a fine cashmere jersey...so that's part of the price...but still... :ninja:

wow, that margiela looks quite similar to a coat from this seasons
yohji pour homme collection.. the one with the ropes.

i have to check through my wardrobe...
i've been buying up a storm this season and i have to take inventory before buying anything else...

have to try outfits and find out where the holes are...

so much stuff with the tags still attached...that i love...must start wearing more...

My list:-

Junya sheepskin pumps from yoox.
I don't know if you have already got them, nor did you change your mind :-P but I saw a Junya sheepskin "trainer" today at the CdG Warsaw Guerrilla. It is not high ankle like the yoox ones:-) Black with white "lower part":-), size 3.

Helena we share dress size!..Well we did anyways..have to see what I size I end up with after my pregnancy

Hanne - what height are you? I am 5"7. It would be funny if we were the same height too! So how big is your bump now? Do you worry about getting back to your old size afterwards - there is so much pressure in the media etc I think it must be a nightmare post pregnancy with all the pressure?

Is it freezing with you just now - its been so cold here - I'm sure it will be heading over your way.....

I am getting all excited about my trip to the sales.

i'm not sure why but in the Yoox Canada there is a US size 8 and 10 of the kokosalaki dress I think Helena.

oh thanks Meg - I must have a look today - but from what softgrey said about the sizing I think i am too nervous to get it. Yoox is such a hassle to send things back I find.:D are you at home now meg?

indeed I am. Tucked safely in my father's chilly basement watching bargain hunt on bbc canada. I  bargain hunt! I just checked the Yoox's site and they have it in a 10 in black and khaki in us sizes. I still adore and think it would look fab on you!!
