what color lipstick goes with blue eyeshadow?

i just bought this very pretty shimmery blue/amethyst eyeshadow and don't know what color lipstick/gloss to wear with it. suggestions please! i have a medium/dark complexion, dark brown eyes and hair. thanks

I'd say don't go for something too strong with your lips since it'll clash with the powerful blue. Just wear some slightly tinted natural lipbalm.

i like the way a *LIGHT* pink lipstick looks with blue shadow....i can even rocommend the one i use: Chanel Aqualumiere lipshine in "Ipanema"...i know it sounds kinda tacky, but the color is sheer, but it gives off that slightly hint of pink....it just looks great with ANY shadow! Good luck!

Don't kill me too but I love blue eyeshadow. But like what KimKhuu and Shoe Gal said, the lips have to be really sheer to make it work. I usually use a pale lip gloss (Chanel) with the darker blues or a very very light red tint with the paler blues.

Haha, I actually know about the rule - if you accentuate the eyes, keep the lips in a "neutral" colour - but I wasn't going for the more accepted look I guess, so well...

I'd go nude on the lips to really accentuate that blue on your eyes.

i was thinking the same thing! red dramatic contrasting if you feel you can pull it off!

red lipstick is awesome, but too much to worry about: ur teeth may b stained (which is REALLY noticable with that shade!), having it smear on ur teeth making u look like ur "great aunt bertha", and reapplying more often then u would a sheer color...other then that, if u girls can pull it off, im HORRIBLY jealous!

Your natural lip color with some enhancing gloss would be best... if you're to wear this look out doing the day. (Look at page 219 or the March 2005 Marie Claire for a picture idea).

But at night, I'd wear something a lot more dramatic like flaming red or orange (or what I would wear would be my orange lip gloss- NARS Sunset Strip) with matching lip liner.
