When do spring collections typically come out?

Sorry for the ignorant question. I joined this forum ages ago (before the invitation requirement...this place has gotten exclusive, no?)

But, I've been lusting over these sneakers for a while now and they have a spring 2010 release (apart of their spring collection). I would like to know when exactly that means. Does that mean literally spring (as in March 20th)? I imagine clothing companies release spring collections before the actual season?

Also, if anyone is into sneakers, criticism of the shoes is welcome. Thanks.

And dont worry your not ignorant, Im not exactly sure either when the spring collection comes out... I havent seen much in stores to be honest in regards to spring/summer collections... Im waiting patiently as I am in dire need of new spring/summer work clothes...
