Who Do You Think Will Present The Best Spring Collection?

What comes to mind first is the Marc Jacobs collection. Judging from the Resort collection he will probably continue with these more experimental volumes and detailing. These sort of "Japanese" clothes.

Balenciaga.

Balenciaga What? I'm very excited to see what Ghesquiere has in store. Especially after he got "his groove back" and all.:p

I'm looking forward to the Marc Jacobs show, as well as the Marc by Marc show.

Well, here's the prediction I wrote earlier today based on my impressions of resort:

I predict Badgley Mischka will make a strong comeback. Based on resort, I am expecting good things from established designers at Burberry, Lanvin, and Prada. And I'm hoping for a strong collection from Marc Jacobs ...

I thought Marc Jacobs' fall collection was extremely strong, but I wasn't too impressed with resort--nothing I myself really wanted to wear, esp at that price point.

I thought Balenciaga was uneven/not cohesive, even within looks. Kinda odd since he clearly knows how to present a cohesive collection (Fall space pods).

So Pastry, you liked MJ's resort collection, huh? Tell me more ... I freely admit I am not objective ... to me it wasn't awe-inspiring like the fall collection, I'm looking at it going, so what can I wear?? Uh, nothing ...

Top Picks:
Bruno Pieters(again will be the strongest in my book  )
Tess Giberson(just because I adore her and she's one of the very few notable talents in NY)
Hartmann Nordenholz(so far,so strong)
Preen(last season's emphasis on volume sure set them apart in London-looking forward to another groundbreaking season from them)
Claudia Rosa Lukas(meeting with her in Paris...so I'll get a first-hand look :woot: )
Tim Van Steebergen
Boudicca(no explaination needed)
Under Cover Jun Takahashi(not the most consistent but he sure does deliver strong emotionally derivitive collections)
Katarzyna Szcozotarska(amazing collections so far!)
Bernhard Willhelm(just because I keep a glimmer of hope he'll evolve)
Cosmic Wonder
Robert Cary-Williams

Marc Jacobs (at MJ and LV) and Prada, as always, should demonstrate, in some way, fashion's next move. I also agree with those who said Balenciaga, because Nicolas' last two collections have been perfect (imo). I also think Rochas will be good if Olivier continues to explore his long, refined lines of last season. I have high hopes for Calvin Klein, last season was Costa's best and most "CK" to date and I'm hoping it's a trend that continues. Lanvin is always good, and I'm sure no one will be surprised to see that name on this list (and the resort collection was interesting, I actually would like to see Alber develop the look he did) And last but not least, Galliano. His last collection under his label was suberb and classic John, and I hope he continues in this more wearable direction.

Balenciaga
United Bamboo
Christian Dior (just because I feel like John is a getting a better grip on things lately)
Junya Watanabe (he always has a strong collection IMO)
Givenchy
Preen
Hartmann Nordenholz
Marc Jacobs
Yohhi Yamamoto (again, always has a strong collection IMO)
Doo Ri

marc jacobs/vuitton--here's the rub with both: i thought the f/w collection for vuitton was stronger than mj collection...but vuitton resort was horrible whereas mj's resort is fabulous...it's a toss up for me, but i have higher hopes for vuitton.

balenciaga/dior--both are clearly on a roll (balenciaga starting with s/s 05 and galliano starting with s/s 05 couture).

prada--i haven't loved a prada spring season since 2002...i think she'll be very successful in translating her mood for fall into spring.

rochas--i'm seeing more of olivier in the clothes and also have high hopes he'll have a big spring.

Totally agree about Lanvin resort--it was by far my favorite. From what I saw, I thought possibly stronger than fall. I hope he does develop the theme ...

I guess now that he has found a new manufacturing deal, Nicolas Andreas Taralis might have a good season... I´m also expecting Olivier Theyskens at Rochas to do well, there was a change in the air at the house when I payed a visit last time and it was more than positive... feels as if he is finally about to unfold to his true potential - making both wearable and interesting clothes. Y´s Yohji Yamamoto had already been shown before the Parisian schedule and it was very good, much more effortless and uplifting than before... If they are intending to launch the collection this season, all eyes are definitely on Madeleine Vionnet, I am still thrilled to find out who´s going to design here! Hussein Chalayan already produced a wonderful collection for H.Chalayan, his secondary line, so I guess he will also do well with his mainline collection. Marc Jacobs could indeed have a good season with his own business, given the fact that he already did a strong pre-collection with all those japanese-designer-influenced voluminous dresses. And finally, I am also thinking that Balenciaga will have a strong season again, considering the article that we have just discussed here, lately.

I am hoping to see Riccardo Tisci work out a great Givency collection. I am having high expectations for him. Also I think that Viktor & Rolf will deliver something glorious. Rochas and YSL are on my list of who will present a gorgeous collection as well. I think Galliano will surprise us for both Dior and his own line, basically because I feel he is going through a change in is work. A step forward, that means.

^ I think Galliano may bring some of the extavagance back because I think he feels people dont like his work as much...Im not sure whatever you expect from Galliano its always totally different
