Who Styles The Show?

Marie Amelie-Sauve styles Balenciaga.

doesn't Lucinda Chambers style Marni ?

Melanie Ward now styles for Balmain.

I know Anastasia Barbieri used to for Emanuel Ungaro, but i think Katie Grand now does it, or did whilst Giles was there as Katie also styles for Giles, for free as a favor to him.

I think Mélanie Utzmann Kuynh styles for Altuzarra ?

Tabitha Simmons styles for Dolce and Gabbana.

Panos Yiapanis doesn't he style for Givenchy ?

He definitely does Rick Owens, Givenchy Menswear and has done Roberto Cavalli the past two seasons and the past menswear season.

Not sure about Givenchy womenswear though.

Jane How also does Stella McCartney.

Alastair McKimm for Todd Lynn, Ohne Titel, Graeme Armour.

Yohji Yamamoto styles his own shows.

Olivier Rizzio definitely styled the last couple of Jil Sander campaigns and usually the campaign stylist also styles the shows. But I didn't find any further evidence either.

Oh and Versace used to be styled by Brana Wolf but it's now styled by Joe McKenna

I don't mean to be degrading the job or anything (heck I'd like to work with some of my favourite houses one day), but what does the stylist actually do in a fashion show (or ad campaign for that matter)? Why would a designer need a stylist? Doesn't the designer decide to agree or veto everything, ie outfits, accessories, what goes with what?! Any insight on what the stylist actually needs to do would be much apprecaited

A stylist once explained it to me. The stylist works very close with the design team, has a lot of input in colors, lenghts, what goes with what. When the design team creates dresses, tights, pants and jackets the stylist decides which looks gets a jacket and a dress or which dress goes without the jacket, if the jacket needs to be shorter or longer or if the jacket would be better in another color.

I recently read an article with Katie Grand in which she described how she wanted a golden Marc Jacobs runway dress in turquoise for the ad campaign because it was better for the mood she wanted to achieve.

So a good stylist is essential for a good runway show. A very good example for the influence of a stylist is Panos Yiapanis work for Roberto Cavalli. Compare the last two seasons to the 10 years before and you'll see that there're WORLDS between them (in a very good way, I think), although the creative director hasn't changed.
