I just saw my favourite movie of the year 2005: Wong Kar Wai`s 2046 :woot:

It`s the perfect Sequel to the wonderful In the mood for love and even features Tony Leung and Maggie Cheung again! But it`s much more intense, emotional and sexual this time. The jumps between the past (1966) and the future (2046) make the film truely unique and the atmosphere is deep dramatic and breath-taking the entire time. I LOVE IT!

And the costumes! Oh my god - FABULOUS! Between kitschy 60s Asia Eveningwear and Alexander McQueen-like Future-looks!

oh i need to see that--how did you see it brian? i had a couple of songs from the soundtrack...it is the highly anticipated movie..

The DVD is already available in Asia, I've had my copy since October. It's a great film, although not my fave WKW movie (that title is reserved to Fallen Angels).

I have this DVD as well..its a wonderful film! I love the mood of it all..and my favourite Faye Wong

OMG! I have to see this, I loved "in the mood for love" Every dress she wore was flawless.

when i first saw it last fall, i was like... wtf... because its so complicated...
and of course i ran out and got the pirated dvd..... to watch it over and over again...
then i started to like it.

i really like their songs too..

This movie was slow (not in a good way), boring, and pretentious.

In the Mood for Love (one of my favorite movies ever) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 2046.

I just remembered that I have In the Mood for Love from Netflix...I've been so busy I haven't watched it yet.....and I just added this to my qeue

great movie.yes it's slow.but i don't think that's a flaw.

Finally saw it and loved it... can't wait for it to officially come out in the US so Adrian Tomine can follow up with another drawing of a WKW movie for the New Yorker.. here are his drawings that accompanied In the Mood for Love and Chungking Express. ^^

oh, that's nice, thanks for posting czilla! is he a regular illustrator for the new yorker?

Let's all have an off-topic, Adrian Tomine moment! :P

Mhm, he's a regular contributor. I loved his New Yorker cover -- it's called Missed Connections, based off of the section on Craigslist of the same name. It's a poignant little picture (plus, set on SF's Muni train). Anyways, his main gig is a comic artist. He writes Optic Nerve and has written a couple other collections of stories (Summer Blonde + he was featured in dave eggers' best american nonrequired reading. whee!)

Here's another drawing he did for Chungking Express, the New Yorker cover, his poster for Weezer's green album, and the New Yorker pic for The Barbarian Invasions...
