I visited Zara yesterday, I don't think I will find anything, I just wanted to take a look at the new season. However, I found a great black leather jacket, that gray laced peep to shoes, a frill skirt, very fine experience :)

@blueberry muffin
can you post a picture of the leather jacket? how much was it?

The new collection is very Gucci-Demeulemesteer- The Row-Marant.

I completely agree with you. I literally jut came back from Zara to check out the new fall collection and i was really surprised. A little avant-garde-esque (if that can be said about Zara at all ^_^). So far it looks promising. A lot of black which I like.
They had a fab knock off of the YSL f/w 08 platform boots. I couldn't resist and bought them. Will post pics later.

There were a couple of The Row like long sleeve shirts but they only came in Medium and Large an they already looked huge. I don't get why thy sometimes don't make small sizes. I hardly saw anything in small or extra small.

My boyfriends mother bought me a nice wide, airy green/grey/white/yellow 100% silk top as an early birthday present!
it was on sale from 39.90€ to 19.90€ :)

The thing I don't understand about Zara is how is possible that prices vary so much. I know that Zara is from Spain, but how can the same thing without any discount be 40€ cheaper than here!?:(

^Stasha, it's just a financial strategy for more profits.

The big heads at Zara assume that in some countries consumers can and are willing to pay much more.

As a student, I worked at Zara a few years ago. The items we received were labeled with the Spain price (cheaper) and we would put the French price (a lot higher).
The Company's justification is that the prices vary because of the average level of income being higher in France than in Spain.

Wow, that's pretty crappy. I never knew that before.

I had my first Zara experience a few days ago and picked up a minidress and an amazing oversized coat for fall. I'll try to take pictures later, because I don't have the patience for the website! ;) I cannot wait until my city gets a Zara, I was very much in love.

^^ I know, right? It goes even further. Even in some countries where the average income is quite low, Zara keeps its prices high, reaching only an upper middle-class to wealthy clientele. In countries like Turkey and Mexico, Zara is not considered a high street brand.

aby i used to work with them too, and they said that in Italy pricer are "only" 20% higher because of the VAT and it's true bacuse the difference between Italy and Spain in prices is 20%..btw I was also told that if we forget to take off the spain/portugal price tag off the shoes the customer has to pay that price (which is obviously reduced) i don't know if it's like this for every country but I went to bershka and the shoes i got were priced 24 euros except for my number that still had the spain tag so i paid 19!

Lucky you! It happened to me too once or twice and it's such a treat as, like you said, the price on the tag must always prevail.

About the VAT fluctuation, I'm pretty sure it's BS.

See, for example the VAT in Portugal is 21 % more than in Spain and yet prices are lower there...

Anyway as we're Thursday, I went to check the delivery and tried on the coat that's in the windows now: black, asymetrical very very Demeulemeester-ish and I absolutely love it!!

Only problem is, it costs 199 euros...

I never paid that much for a highstreet coat but this is the kind of item that stores receive in limited quantity so I'd better make my mind quickly!:innocent:

Aby, are you gonna get that coat? I absolutely loved it when I saw it but then I saw the price tag and was like ...what? I know with some Zara items they actually receive in limited quantities and once they are gone that's it even if it's still early in the season. Therefore sometimes I would panic that an item might not be there anymore a week later and made myself buy it immediately. Most of the time they got new stock in though.

Here are my last purchases from sale, they are kind of fall forward, I like to buy things like that :) The shoes are not very comfortable though, maybe I have to wear them more. The users that have that shoes, did they become comfortable by time?

Has anyone seen these new boots in Zara.I think they are part of the fall08 collection.
But HOLYMOLY.As soon as I laid eyes on them..I knewwwww, that I would be lusting over them.I just feel bad buying them at the current price so for now they'll just have to be a dream.
They are just above ankle high, black suede and they are not leg tight. So there is quite a gap between your leg and the boot. And the heel is a pretty thin, high, shiny black one.

They are pure magic.

Well, I'm actually contemplating to buy it.:ninja:

On one hand, I know it's crazy to buy a coat now (the weather's finally summery) as I try to buy items in the season to avoid the I-don't-feel-like-wearing-this-now feeling later on, when the weather is in synch with my buys.

It's expensive. I'm always complaining on the quality of Zara items.

BUT on the other hand, it's a coat : unless the weather totally gets screwed up, I should be able to wear it.

I love coats. I love this coat.

Paycheck is coming.

I think I'll go back and try it on again. Just to see.
