The sales are great but I'm excited about the new collection already!
Brown Leather Jacket for USD $189:
Two-buttoned pockets on both sides of chest. Side pockets on both sides of waist. Elastic waistband and wristband. S.W.O.R.D. has a lot of styles like this for FW08, but I like the fit of this Zara much better even though the quality of the leather is less desirable, though not by as much as the price differential would suggest (SWORD costs north of $700). This photograph was taken in the dressing room because I didn't end up taking the jacket home. The same version is also available in black (and I think a fellow TFSer already posted hers on the previous page) but was sold out in the store I visited.
Black Leather Jacket for USD $169:
Light-weight and unadorned except for an off-center zipper, this jacket recalls the simplicity of Helmut Lang (the label also has a leather jacket with off-center zipper but retails for $1295) and soon to become my favorite item this season. It is lined in cotton but the lining looks good enough to be folded over when needed (see picture on the right). The sleeves have elastic in the back (as opposed to leather all-around) and the back is stitched vertically throughout to give the jacket a more form-fitting look.
Flat Wedge Boot a la Loeffler Randall for $139:
This is much better than Steven Madden's version. The side zipper allows a more fitted look and ensures that the shaft of the boot stays up (S Madden's version doesn't have a side zipper and looks slouchy when worn). Very much wanted to take it home, but that would make it the third pair of flat boots I purchased from Zara in 2008, so I passed. Maybe in 2009?
The front and side views of the boot. For the modelling picture, I wore my own boot (also from Zara) on my right foot (left on the picture) for comparison.
