Zeit Magazin February 1, 2024 : Linda Evangelista by Cass Bird

One of the better things Linda has produced in a long while. Certainly my favorite since her 2022 comeback. Love that she’s gone from hiding behind the drapes (almost literally, in photos and on the Fendi runway) to showing herself more fully - in this case her mastectomy scars clearly visible. “Powerful” is overused, but I do think there’s emotional heft and power to the cover, knowing her process to get there.

The cover with Jenna Lyons isn’t bad, either.

Linda just needed to warm up for the camera and feel the love the industry had for her!
2024 is starting fabulously for her!

Strong covers, questionable layout…
La Linda on top! She can sell us anything with that face and those legs anyway!

More campaigns for 2024!

Truly a powerful moment with her visible scars, I'm very proud of her. It's wonderful to see how much her confidence grew since the initial comeback and it's such a pleasure seeing her at work - which, for me, is the most versatile of all her peers at the present time. I hope to see her back at Dolce & Gabbana one more time, that would be a treat!

I wish I knew why I can’t stand Linda, she’s always rubbed me the wrong way. It’s nice to see her less hidden, I suppose. It’s definitely better than her V monstrosity.

Over Naomi?

Anyway, I'm just glad to see her neck here. Cute covers even though I'm not sure what this magazine is.

Another set of boring b&w images retouched to the point of being digital illustrations and filtered with heavy grain so we don't forget these are supposed to be photographs. It's pleasant to look at as the formula is working but what's the point? It's been done milion times already.

She was good and properly casted in all her former work. These days it is cringe, because she is over retouched each time, and the industry tried to make her happen against like Naomi, but it is embarrassing. All these 'comebacks' look like they have the Madonna effect: people don't know when to stop and retire or at least turn it down. Christy is doing it justifiably and smart, she looks regal in her little appearances and she acts and poses according to her age. As much as I love Kate, she is doing same Linda+Naomi with the same boring look, overly retouched work, and they all just should give way to the newer models that deserve their spots (e.g. Rianne, Vittoria, Anna, Julia, etc.).

What also does not help is TFS's obsession over the old guard approach and nostalgia. Fashion these days sucks and is extremely low quality, but that does not mean that icons are immune to it: Linda and Meisel produce work just as cr@p. With my break and silent lurking, months away from fashion give a new good outlook on the industry. Unfortunately, like a community, we are here mostly an echo chamber. All the 'icons' have the experience, but are as bad, especially so as they become irrelevant. I used to defend Meisel, Kate, and others a lot more, but the painful realization of them being outdated despite their huge status came.

Also, showing scars and less retouching after some unfortunate surgery that you have only when you have millions of dollars to dispose is not brave, it is a cringe twist to display one's unlucky situation and lack of proper judgement. Brave would be showing genetic defects or body burns without retouch as those people cannot help it, they suffered out of their control. Having an unfortunate accident after getting pricey treatment, because one was a look-obsessed model that refused to age naturally is not brave.

I don´t have a problem with getting a Linda spread per month, keep them coming. I never thought this day will come
