^^ Exactly. We should even take the word controversy out of this thread, seriously, enough with it. I think l'interview finished this matter, we know what happen and we all have an opinion on it. He is too great of a person to have to deal with this stupid stuff.

I knew there was a film about him and there is another one about Real Madrid, hope there are not the same film actually. Does anybody know what he is doing now after his retirement? Where is he going to live?

Hopefully right across the street from me, but... perhaps that's wishful thinking?

About the crowd thing, my announcer pointed out the crowd rallying behind Zidane after he was sent off, but also pointed out that there wasn't a way for the crowd to have seen the headbutt until the replay. So I was just wondering, did you see the headbutt when it happened?

That's what I was about to say, so many people to this thread saying how he deserves to be punished and how his behaviour was lame. OK right.
But HE got PUNISHED, he was sent off, lost his last chance for the coup.

But how about the damn MATERAZZI? Jesus guys think about it. Zidane attacked him but this guys insulted him in a SEXIST and RACIST way and still gets away with it. Even worse,many peope saying how it's NORMAL to hear those things in everyday life. Well IN MY LIFE IT'S NOT NORMAL. He deserves to be punished just as harshly, this behaviour is the elite of football or from any sport NEEDS to stop. You can't use that as a tactic to get a player off the pitch.

It's Zidane who's done a lot to stop that in France and in poor banlieues(don't know its name in english) and his image of winning the coup in 98 is symbolic for many french followers of football of a coexistance, of anti-racism. So I think in France we need to thank a lot Zizou for many things he did and for remembering quite well where he came from and what he suffered as a child and trying to stop that for future generations.

Apparently the FIFA has open an investigation about Materazzi's behaviour.

It's true that Zidane is huge in France and is a role model for children of immigrants in poor suburbias. In his native town he even has his portrait on a building. It was painted during the 98 world cup but people asked to keep it afterwards.
