I used to like Lauren Bacall a lot, at least her looks and style, until I happened to be in a Borders where she was present at a book signing event. The customers were told not to speak to her, to keep the line moving smoothly, and so forth. I am surprised they were even allowed to look at her. The whole time, she just fussed with her dog and made a big show of ignoring the customers and looking bored and annoyed. (I also happened to be at a Sue Grafton book signing event: she was adorable : she took the time to speak to all the customers who wanted to chat with her, the ambiance was wonderful and everybody was so patient, knowing they too, would be given some moments with her.) Sorry, miss Bacall, but in my book, you're no lady and you certainly don't conduct yourself with style.
