Punk + Mod | Shoes + Boots

i've just ordered these...
it's a fairly new italian brand...paola d'arcano...
they were so reasonable, i half expect them to be awful in person...
but they are just what i have been looking for...
easy to pull on, not too pointy and w. a little wedge...
they probably come up too high on the ankle though...
i don't know...
worth a look i guess...
could be kind of great...

thanks for starting the thread softgrey

just tried checking what's available over here from marsell and got to know it's rather difficult to find. it seems that stores tend to buy guidi for that kind of market now.

...
yay for the thread~!

and thanks for the info on marsell in japan...
i guess they are not common over here so much either, though neither is guidi- except maybe guidi for men...
i don't always like marsell...
this just happens to be an incredibly good season for some reason...
more refined designs than usual...
more elegant...but still tough...
i don't know...
i think "polished" is the word i am looking for...

they just got the balance so right this time...
it makes me wonder if there has recently been some change in their designer studio...
i think it started last season, actually...
at least that is when i noticed it...

...

there is one more that i haven't posted yet which is insanely good...

love that crumpled patent thing...always have...
usually don't love gold hardware on shoes but it works well here, imo...

you might remember a person like a white tiger, who appears in the video you posted in the cdiem thread. she was a sales director there, an able one. after altieri's collective project dispersed, and now she works for guidi. probably that's largely why guidi is this thriving in japan.
marsell is nice but they tend to hardly settle in stores at least over here. for example you see them for one season in a boutique but disappear from there next season, but instead you come across them at another retailer. they seem to have this discontinuous tendency. for certain stability there has to be more than just waiting for buyers at venues such as tranoi. something like relation more dynamic, interlocking.

the patchwork junya is from FW 2014 ( the season junya watanabe denim was launched as a full fledged line, pic below ), but if you feel like you were wearing a boat with tricot, you could feel you are wearing a battleship with junya. and maybe a phantom ship or even spaceship with rei.
the crazy loafer is from FW 2013 btw.

anyway the problem is I cannot find anything that seems just right yet.

yes- i remember the white tiger...
that video was cool and so was she...
i especially remember the hammering of the shoes...
unforgettable...

thanks for the explanation...
in addition to those factors, i also think that marsell just doesn't have enough focus...
so many styles out there and some are really awkward...
i don't find them consistent, which might be part of why they have problems creating loyalty - both with stores and with customers...

i don't think i realized that a separate denim line had been created for junya...
but that makes so much sense...
that coat in that pic is ...
thx for the pic...

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

this is sooooo funny and soooo true~!!!
...

whatever it is...it must be elegant...
and that is rarely a word one can use to describe any footwear from the cdg universe...
cool---yes...
elegant---not so much...

what i search for is something that is both...
it's a challenge...

thank you for looking...
you are a darling...

i like this thread though...
i think it really helps to see everything gathered together like this...

the junya patchwork reminds me of this...
not sure i would wear it but i really like the idea...

So many great pairs in this thread! I am thinking of getting these from MNG ... The gap at the ankle is the only thing that bothers me, but I presume the model doesn't have them tightened enough in addition to having stick thin legs.

I love mod style shoes. I like edgy punk elements too, just nothing over the top. Here is an example of a shoe I own and love.

J Crew Low Ankle Chelsea boot in suede. I bought them in black and they have a white bottom, you can't really tell from the picture below, but I think it is very chic.
I actually bought them full-price, the prices kept dropping with sales though. I didn't anticipate that!

Black:

Example of someone wearing them:

I don't wear them that often so the bottom stays very clean, I own a lot of shoes, I would buy these again and don't regret them at all.

i love the booties the girl is wearing in this pic...
i love the way they go up in the front...
i have no idea what they are---
probably vintage?
it's a pic from a vintage website...
:ermm:

i'm beginning to think it might be worth it to explore the vintage market...
lord knows i NEVER expected to find those vintage YSL's- and in perfect condition too...
barely worn...

Ben Sherman (men's, but taller girls may fit them) Chelsea boots were down to £40 on Black Friday. That deal may still be on.

ordered these by limi feu...
had to exchange for a larger size, but i may have found my punk-y shoes at last...
