Ugh... I was hoping this thread would turn into more of a 'movie discussion' thread. I know the idea here is to get people to watch movies, but we already have a thread where people just list the movies they see. I wish people would at least grade or rank the films they've seen, if they don't want to write out their thoughts about it. :(

MyNameIs...perhaps you could visit the Films Lovers Thread - there is a great dialogue there between film lovers about what they've watched, what they thought, what moved them etc. in fact it's how I ended up at this thread. if you're looking for a discussion about film, i think it's the best thread here at tFS to check out.

personally I think this thread is a mix between listing movies watched and discussing them. it is also, uniquely, a bit of a motivation tool - a challenge, as it clearly says - to keep everyone on track and excited to watch film....hopefully receive some recommendations, inspiration, ideas etc from fellow viewers. some people are already rating their films or giving little reviews (i have written a few small things beside some titles). personally i don't feel comfortable 'rating' films as this is not how my mind works when i watch one....and i couldn't possibly come up with a number on a scale to represent how i feel about the film... i also don't possibly know how i'd rank them as it's all so relative and spontaneous...

i think this is more than just listing movies you see...:flower:

Oh I love this!

So far this year:

I think I'm going to join into this because even getting close to finishing the 50 book challenge is completely out of question for me, lol.

This is actually the intention of the thread.

I saw Drive the other day with Ryan Gosling, honestly one of the best films I've seen in a while, although it was terribly graphic i still thought he played the character absolutely wonderfully and he really deserved an Oscar Nomination for his role in Drive.

Here are some other suggestions, these are some of my favorites of all time so I'm sure everyone else will enjoy them immensely...

How To Steal A Million (1966)
A Single Man (2009)
Saturday Night Fever (1977)
Drive (2011)
Annie Leibovitz : Life Through A Lens (Documentary)
Sex And The City : The Movie (2008)

Mannequin (1987)
The Birds (1963)
Love Actually (2003)
Pretty Woman (1990)
Avatar (2009)
The Piano (1993)

I don't really love rating or reviewing movies either. I like talking about movies, but I am just terrible at reviewing things.

23. The Seventh Victim (1943)
24. I Walked with a Zombie (1943)
25. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000)
26. Albert Nobbs (2011)

001. A Dangerous Method (David Cronenberg)
002. Submarine (Richard Ayoade)
003. Rosemary's Baby (Roman Polanski)
004. Lolita (Adrian Lyne)
005. Stay (Marc Forster)
006. Take Shelter (Jeff Nichols)
007. J.Edgar (Clint Eastwood)

Take Shelter is definitely worth watching. It blew me away, and Michael Shannon is perfect, there's no other word. What a performance!
